In my twisted universe, it's always been fun to write songs about the day after Saint Patrick's Day. In this case, imagine that it's a few moments after last call at 3 AM on March 18th. ;D
I'll make it home to the latrine,
'Though I've had way too much tonight.
My drunken words are quite obscene.
My eyes a-glow with strange green light.
That's par for my St. Patty's Day.
It happens at this time each year.
Once more, my friends led me astray
And I chugged down way too much beer.
I don't have very far to drive.
I hope my clothing will dry clean.
Before my wife skins me alive,
I'll make it home to the latrine.
In addition to versions by the usual suspects (Bing Crosby, John Gary, Dennis Day, The Irish Tenors, etc.), I was surprised and delighted to discover a version on Youtube by Ken Curtis! Although most people remember Ken as the comical character Festus on Gunsmoke, he had a wonderful singing (and speaking) voice which compared favorably with the aforementioned vocalists. ;D

All fine performers to be sure, but my favorite rendition of TOS has to be Lieutenant Kevin Riley in the Star Trek episode "The Naked Time".
