Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

A song posted yesterday, as it would appear a bit more properly paced and syllable corrected. Took 15 minutes.
Our country's in danger
There's no compromise
Obama stands helpless
Will debt limit rise?

We owe more to China
Than we can repay
The worth of the Greenback
Declines every day

Entitlements growing
A tax boost, a must
The so-called recov'ry
Will quickly go bust

On your knees, Obama
Your downfall is nigh
Repubs won't support you
How will you get by?

It's clear now, Obama
Who really holds sway
While you play the blame game
The public will pay

No easy decision
Midst Washington's sleaze
We're all growing hungry
We can't afford peas*
With a bit more care and comparison with the original source, songs can be rhymed and paced to read more smoothly. *Peas. Obama compared the austerity measures we are facing to a child being forced to eat his peas, a vegetable many small children are reluctant to consume. Which shows what Obama thinks of the American people.

You DO remember what happened the last time the Republicans acted like this kind of idiot, right? Right? Keep this crap up, and Obama may just win "57 States" next year. Because the American people know who's being the adult here, and who's standing with them: The black man in the White House.
Patrick - July 14, 2011 - Report this comment
We should annex Saudi Arabia, Libya, Iraq, and Iran. That along with Puerto Rico, Guam and Virgin Islands would make 57. How can borrowing money to pay debts be anything but a temporary postponement of the day of reckoning? When you see an individual do that, it's a sign that he is in deep excrement. A nation is nothing more than a collection of individuals, and the same principles apply.

A tax hike is the last thing needed in a struggling economy. The Fed Gov is way beyond its Constitutional mandate and should be shrunk by 3/4, leaving a surplus to pay off the deficit. More than 40 cents of every tax dollar you pay to the Feds goes to pay the INTEREST on the national debt -- and that''s at today's historically low interest rates. If rates rise...

Nice demonstration that only 15 minutes of care can turn a non-paced parody into one of technical excellence. Or you can take a seven-minute parody and pace it, but it takes a little longer than 15 minutes, as demonstrated here: (you've seen it, twice)

Nice lesson, but it looks like the author who needs it didn't read it. Isn't that the way it usually works? ... Aside from the disagreement on tax hikes, 555.

@ Michael Pacholek: I'm disappointed. I've always stuck up for you, because even when you disagree with politics, you acknowledge good pacing, with a 511 vote (and signing your name to it, unlike Anonybombers). Assuming you voted the 111, although you didn't say.

A recent study of previous administrations in private sector business experience shows an appalling lack of real world business experience (-that would be opposite of "fancy book learnin' world" experience-) Please weep for this country and in Nov. 2012, THROW THE INEPT BUMS OUT! ---------T. Roosevelt= 38%-----Taft= 40%-----Wilson= 52%----- Harding= 49%----- Coolidge= 48%----- Hoover= 42%------ F. I was not advocating tax hikes, just acknowledging that the President and some in the Congress are calling for "additional revenues".
Dawn - July 16, 2011 - Report this comment
Should have put a "?" (question mark) after "Tax hikes, a must?" Of course, a tax hike would doom the illusion of recovery the administration continues to tout.
EwephemisTT - July 16, 2011 - Report this comment
Dawn: More Orwellian "Newspeak". No politician dares say the word "tax hike" because it's a ticket back home (at taxpayer expense). So you cushion the nasty words with euphemisms. Where is the Gov to get "additional revenues" without hiking taxes on *someone*?

Sorry to have missed that you were speaking from the POTUS' POV. The other 23 lines were all from your own POV, so yes, either a ? or quotes, or both: "Tax hikes, a must!" ... the quotes indicate you're, uh, quoting (or paraphrasing) someone else.

RAaW: Thank you. Now give us the numbers on Congress, please? .. .Most are lawyers. Very few have real-world bus. exp., except as a wealthy CEO who is still somewhat insulated. (Fail? Get a bailout or a golden parachute.)

TT has mentioned this discrepancy between the then-Secretary of the Treasury and himself:

"Discussing the reasons for the Clinton administration's proposal to strengthen the CRA and further weaken a bank's ability to refuse a loan to a minority buyer, even if not qualified by these time-tested standards, Lloyd Bentsen, Secretary of the Treasury at that time, said, "(a bunch of BS)".

TT counter-argued, then said,

"Please note that Secretary Bentsen majored in Law, whereas TT majored in Finance and Economics. TT also has a few more years' experience in the financial field than Secretary Bentsen, all of it "in the trenches", not as a cushy CEO position, and some of it with his own hard-earned seaweed, unlike the banker who lends out other people's money. And a far greater percentage of it in minority neighborhoods than most banks, probably including Mr. Bentsen's."

Soak The Soaked - July 16, 2011 - Report this comment
Just saw an interview today: The top 3% of taxpayers in this country pay 59% of the income taxes collected. The middle class pays a much smaller percentage, a minority. (Might be 23%; didn't write it down.)

Even if taxes were idiotically doubled on the wealthiest, it would be a drop in the bucket, because there are so fewer of them. To get the additional TAX MONEY needed to cut the deficit significantly, O would *have* to raise taxes on the vast, middle-class majority. The numbers are irrefutable.

Great parody. So true. 5s all around.
Patrick - July 18, 2011 - Report this comment
What we need is recall. Imagine how Congress and the President would be working right now if there were committees back home collecting signatures to remove them from office by August 2. November 2012 leaves these fools too much time to do a lot more damage.
