The Lyrics

Christmas In July now presents the latest party game from the D.C. Beltway. Whenever budgetary cuts are mentioned, the President, the administration, or Democratic members of Congress reply "I'm (We're) not going to balance the budget on the backs of __________ (fill in the blank)." So far, we've heard "our children", "our elderly", "our troops", "our veterans", "our future", "our planet", "those who are most vunerable", "those who can afford it least", and many others. With so much balancing on backs, it makes me wonder - do we have a government or a circus tumbling act? ;D

Won't balance the budget on backs of the old,
'Though no current benefits get cut we're told.
But we'll keep on sounding the same old tired riff
And show Ryan throwing grandma off a cliff.

Won't balance the budget on backs of our kids.
Trim programs, "investments"? We'll all flip our lids.
We must "Win The Future"! More spending and yet
The one thing we'll leave them is eternal debt.

Won't balance the budget on backs of our troops.
'Though this is repulsive to far left wing groups.
All things military we always abhor,
But we just might need them in case there is war.

Won't balance the budget on backs of the green.
To question globe warming is just plain obscene,
It's not altruism. There's piles to be made
From chosen "green" industries and Cap and Trade.

Won't balance the budget on backs of the broke.
'Though 'bout "shovel-ready jobs" you've heard us joke.
Because of our programs you'll not be annoyed.
You'll make out much better if you're unemployed.

All this brings new meaning to getting the government "off our backs". ;D

In the end we are going to balance the budget on the backs of the Chinese. They are far more acrobatic than we are.

OMR- am confused about your OS "Away in a Manger". I got the traditional 1885 lyrics with the "Little Lord Jesus". Your lyrics are different and much longer, so what other version is there??? BTW, I am parodying it today!!! Your version was my inspiration!!!

great parody with great truths and now, let's review odumba; troops home yet? nope- started a war for oil himself. unemployment down now that he has his slush fund stimulous? nope- got worse. balance the budget? nope, create more debt that enslaves us as a nation and for no gain, unless you are a liberal supporting big business or a bank. demoncrats- proud to lie, do more each time and always get away with it cause our supporters enable us
