The Lyrics

Michael Moore's op-ed on November 14th (A Liberal's Pledge to Disheartened Conservatives) had twelve promises, and in this 'December 25 holiday' season, an old song with the number 12 came to mind. So here is my take on what 'gifts' we can expect in January 2007.For original words, visit http://www.carols.org.uk/the_twelve_days_of_christmas.htm or http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/relientk/12daysofchristmas.html .
On their twelfth day in Congress, the liberals gave to me:

12 summers summing, (PayGo budgets)
11 snipers sniping, (committee hearings)
10 taxes creeping, (AMT & repealed cuts)
9 lawyers lancing, (class action & ACLU)
8 porkers bilking, (earmarks in every bill)
7 solons skimming, (nepotism & junkets)
6 Borks delaying, (presidential nominees)
5 far-left wings; (MoveOn & American Way)
4 stalling words, (filibusters & maneuvers)
3 French men, (Senator John Kerry et al.)
2 terror doves, (or more like two hundred)
but no cartridges (stiffer gun control laws)
in my Hum-Vee! (protect the environment)

"8 porkers bilking" will be more of the same. The outgoing 'Pubs will have no room to complain on that one. That new wad of bacon being shoved down our throats will merely replace the old wad of bacon that we just spewed out. And I say this as a right winger and (for the most part) a Bush supporter. So far, the Dems have done two good things, or perhaps I should say, refrained from doing two bad things, by rejecting Murtha and Hastings (whom Pelosi and Conyers voted to Impeach back when he was a judge).

So where are the remaining 11 verses?!?!?!?!?!

I like your idea of keeping it simple and just listing the 12 days. By the way, what's a solon. Is it a salon?

Thanks, Yoidy, for answering Mr 1s, who can write out the first 11 verses in longhand as a homework assignment. Solon (capital S) was a Greek 'father of democracy' ~2600 years ago; small s means any legislator. I'm surprised no one asked about 'summer' (one who sums, not a season). I agree with Steve K that many 'conservatives' are cursed by similar foibles.
