Song Parodies -> Chicago (That Obama Town)
| Original Song Title: | "Chicago (That Toddling Town)" |
| Original Performer: | Tony Bennett |
| Parody Song Title: | "Chicago (That Obama Town)" |
| Parody Written by: | Barry J. Mitchel |
This prequel for the story of our next President may become a prequiem if it reaches enough voters. See http://www.lyrics007.com/Bennett%20Tony%20Lyrics/Chicago%20That%20Toddling%20Town%20Lyrics.html for the original words. (I prefer "they never do" to "that they don't do" and to repeat "Chicago" before "my home town".) Chicago may have some honest politicians; I don't mean to disparage every one.
Chicago, Chicago, that fraudulent town
In southside Chicago was Obama's ground
Bet your bottom dollar he'd choose the Blues (Democrat so)
Chicago, the town where Jeremiah would not back down
In State seat, that great teat,
He trusting would stray
To do things too clever for resume, nay
He used the time, that time in his life
To draw vast plan, enhanced by his wife
In Chicago, adopted by home town
In great feat, won Fed seat,
With lust for the day
He'd brew things that lever to White House stay, pray
He raised the dime, with Internet fife
Whipsawed a man with pants-armored wife
In Chicago and ev'ry urban town
On K Street, that maze street,
He just wouldn't play
He viewed things in never-before-trod way, hey
He wouldn't slime where crime was so rife
Washed raw his hands from dark former life
In Chicago, lest Rezko bring him down
He moved on, a proved fawn,
His thrust could crowds sway
To boo things he'd sever without delay, yay
"This is the time when I'm to pare strife
I'll bring a gun, while John brings a knife"
To Chicago, conventioneer-host town.

We Chicagoans love to complain about our storied politics. Nice stuff...strangely, I can't tell if you are being pro or con on the man here (which is OK, but your message may have gotten lost--on the other hand, a non-partisan stance is more appreciated here anyway). 555
