The Lyrics

This is a weird sort of experiment -- not a parody so much as a re-working of one song's lyrics to fit the tune of another. The idea came from an anonymous submission I recently saw in the 'proposed duets' section... I'll pray, roll the dice, and give this idea a shot...
[Dorothy:]
Oh, way up in the sky, where you find the deepest blue,
Where the bluebirds all fly, and the dreams you dream will all come true...
Over the Rainbow, past Amber Street (oooh, yeah)
There'll be Leo, Tin Man, Scarecrow, Toto and me...

[Dorothy:] Over the Rainbow... [Tin Man:] such deep emotions...
[Dorothy:] Over the Rainbow... [Scarecrow:] such clever notions...
[Dorothy:] Over the Rainbow... [Lion:] not a trace of fear...
[Dorothy:] Over the Rainbow, there is endless cheer...
[All:] Over the Rainbow!
Rainbow!

Where all the witches are sweet, and have the glow of timeless youth,
And all monkeys you see are safely locked in cages in the zoo...
Over the Rainbow, past Amber Street (oooh, yeah)
Leo, Tin Man and the Scarecrow, Toto and me...

[Dorothy:] Over the Rainbow... [Scarecrow:] Oh, what bright ideas!
[Dorothy:] Over the Rainbow... [Lion:] And the absence of fear!
[Dorothy:] Over the Rainbow... [Tin Man:] Oh, the things you feel!
[Dorothy:] Over the Rainbow, life has endless appeal!
[All:] Over the Rainbow!
Rainbow!

[----- instrumental interlude -----]

[Dorothy:]

Rainbow!

This is something Mari and I have talked about, she did it with Handyman/Candyman. I was working on swapping lyrics of "Hello, Dolly" with "Lay down, Sally", but I couldn't quite get it to work.

Very clever piece! 5s!

I agree with Rick and Rod - clever idea, well done. 5's. This is a parody-concept that I want to try in the near future. I kind of touched on it with my parody "A Lamer Stupid Rhyme", but I didn't really swap many lyrics between "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "A Whiter Shade Of Pale", only "Fandango" which is used by both songs.

It doesn't take a house to fall on me to know this deserves five.

I just found this one by looking through your index...it's totally over the rainbow! It also gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. Something I never thought you'd do...
