But, Al Franken is a Democrat, and so is John Conyers. That means the rules apply differently than they do to a Republican such as Roy Moore. Security code for comment is 9PV. I guess that could be taken as an abbreviation of sorts.

@Patrick, suppose if it was Al Franken who allegedly aggressively propositioned a 14 year old girl while in his 30s---and as the record shows, was banned from a shopping mall for similar behavior, and also met his first wife WHEN SHE WAS '15 OR 16 YEARS OLD' AT HER SCHOOL DANCE RECITAL (look it up on CNN)--there would be no need to split hairs about what party he represented and to decide whether or not he should leave the political spotlight.
