The Lyrics
Adidas stands for Adi Dassler or Adolf Dassler. Adi + Das. Although the brothers Dassler (Adolf and Rudolf) started making shoes in their mother's basement in 1924, the Dassler shoe line took off under the Nazi Party when both the brothers joined. They made sporting shoes for the Nazi Olympics. Jesse Owens wore pairs when he won four gold medals. Later, in WW2, Adolf served the Heer, but went back to making German military boots while his brother served in the Waffen SS on the Ostfront, went AWOL, was sent to Dachau, but was liberated by US troops and then became a POW for a while. Postwar, the brothers fought and separated by 1948. Adolf formed official Adidas while brother Rudolf formed Puma! Then came sports and casual clothing plus sporting goods from Adidas. All due to Nazi expansion of Dassler. Dassler logo under the Third Reich at bottom...
