The Lyrics
In 1945 the Japanese were starting to take medium-to-heavy tanks seriously with threat of invasion of the home islands. The first production med tank was the Type 3 and this led to the latter Types 4 &5 Chi-To and Chi-Ri. The Type 4 Chi-To was a 30 ton tank that mounted a Type 4 75mm main gun derived from an AA gun. It had 2x 7.7mm MGs as back-up. Armor was 12-75mm. The engine was a gas V12 of 400 hp and speed was 28mph on 14 road wheels. Two were produced by August 1945 with +4 under construction. They both were dumped into Lake Hamana to prevent capture, but US divers recovered one of the two. The other one is still at the bottom of the lake and the Japanese are trying to get it out this year. The Type 5 Chi-Ri was built on the same platform but raised to 37 tons with the 75mm main gun AND a lower 37mm gun and added more road wheels for same speed of 28 mph with a BMW 550 hp gas V12.
