Original Song Title:

"And Then There's Maude"

Original Performer:

Maude TV Theme Song

Parody Song Title:

"And Then There's Trump"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

Abe Lincoln was a freedom seeker
did care about freeing the slaves
Teddy Roosevelt was a great leader
told the nation to stand tall, to be brave

Ronny Reagan beat that peanut farmer
'cause Carter f-cked things up (Big time)
And when the country was terror struck
GWB had Hussein bagged and then strung up

And then there's Trump
And then there's Trump
And then there's Trump
And then there's Trump
And then there's Trump
And then there's Trump

And then there's this old uncompromisin', half truth lyin', anything but satisfyin',
Loudmouth punk!!!

I youtubed the song, pretty sure we never had that show in Sweden, yet it seemed oddly familiar - is there a "full" version by a "real" band somehow?

Anyway, about Trump, my theory is that "normal" mudslinging in western politics has been so common (and effective) that the public, maybe more or less subconsciously, finds it refreshing, maybe even gutsy, with a politican that doesn't obviously weight every word (and still yet often has to retort to "I don't remember what I said, but I stand by what I said, whatever I said" later on) but actually seeks out to be offensive from the get go.

Also, this minimizes the chances that an almost unknown will come from out of nowhere in the first preliminaries, like BOTH candidates did in 2008, Clinton in 1992, Carter in 1976 (and even if those are the only ones I can name from over here I'm sure you could add to the list), so in the long run, once GOP preliminary voters decide it's time to "get serious" the one obvious winner from Trump stringing the media along during the opening acts should be Jeb Bush.

AFAIK, the only extension of this theme song is from the TV show Family Guy" where Peter gets annoyed because they keep using more references! Look that up on YouTube.

After I read through the lyrics a bit the tune came back to me. Maude was one of those shows I couldn't stand to watch. "Rosanne", "How I Met Your Mother", "Two and a Half Men" and "Family Guy" are some more examples. I liked Peter Andersson's analysis of the election cycle. Obama was a total unknown and in many aspects remains one to this day. Trump, in a way, mocks the political process, which it well deserves. What surprised me was seeing Bernie Sanders booed off the stage by people who should have been in tune with his message. I wish I could vote for "None of the Above" and make it stick.

Didn't vote on a rating. Maude would have slapped you for this. Besides, Jimmy Carter didn't f-ck anything up. It was already f-cked up when he got there.

MP, Carter was a terrible speaker who believed in roundtable politics that failed. He was impotent with the Iran Hostage Crisis (Operation Eagle Claw failed), he gutted our military including the B-1 Bomber Reagan resurrected, and trusted the Soviets far too much. Signed a missile treaty and they marched into Afghanistan a month later. Unemployment and inflation rose drastically. Blaming Nixon/Ford is irrelevant. Carter's own domestic and foreign policies killed him. Reagan won by landslides both terms!!!
