After Trump left office, the Senate no longer has jurisdiction. Any federal indictments would have to come from a federal prosecuting attorney. Strictly an exercise in hatred taken to an extreme.

Patrick - trump was impeached while he was in office for offenses he committed while in office. The constitution reads "The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments." The operative word is *all*, there are no exceptions noted. Additionally, among other errors of logic in your position, not having a trial in the Senate would deny him a forum in which to attempt to refute the charges in the article of impeachment.

Hmm.. try Trump in a federal court, so at least there is a chance of an impartial judge/jury (well, in theory, anyway), rather than half the jury being scared they'll lose their jobs if they convict? And would result in him being a convicted felon and spending the rest of his life in prison if found guilty? I can see the appeal, but we all know that as he was president when he whipped those people up, the federal courts won't pick up the baton, which would lead to a precedent of any outgoing president being able to do anything with impunity. Someone needs to hold Trump responsible, but it does appear that too many Republican senators are too cowardly to step up to the plate.

Patrick, say I am CEO of a company who got caught selling illegal drugs. I am indicted of the crime a week or two before my scheduled date of leaving the company (in fact, I was terminated). Upon that date of termination, does that mean my indictment gets tossed out and a trial isn't gonna happen? NOPE.
