As the person who parodied this song on this site first, all I can say is: What the heck is this? Not a correct parody of “Rhythm Steps”!
I noticed two main issues here. Why is the title, “Ronnie Slaps”, three syllables, when you use “Ronnie Anne Slaps” in your lyrics, which is FOUR syllables? Also “Elementary School Students throughout the town of Royal Woods” is WAY too long as a substitute line for, “It’s a new sensation, (doo-doo-do-doo)”. Maybe Herbie Kay could rise up from his grave and give you some tips on how to parody his hoboes-with-oboes tune correctly. Still, gotta give you credit for retaining the last line, “Simple as the day is long!” I never change that one, because it’s so funny and true that it doesn’t need to be changed.
Maybe I should do an entry teaching people how to parody this song correctly, now that other people are attempting to do this now and screwing up the rhymes and pacing in the process. I’d bet Shirley Lloyd and the Three Kay’s would be eager to teach you how to do it right, “simple as the day is long”, no less.
