The Lyrics

Here is the song about the death of "Three's Company" actress Suzanne Somers.
Sing, (Start in to sing, then you’ll be swinging,)
Then, you’ll swing, (Start in to sing, then you’ll be swinging,)
That actress is bound to get you,

Oh, (Turn on the heat, then beat your feet,)
Don’t go slow, (Turn on the heat, then beat your feet,)
That actress is bound to get you,

Actress, actress, actress, actress, actress...mmm...

Suzanne's Dead,
Start in to sing, then soon, you’ll be swinging,
Suzanne's Dead,
Turn on the heat, your feet will keep beating,

One, two, three,
It’s a new sensation, (dee-de-oh!)
You’ll agree,
It’s the step that’s putting the girls on its feet,

Suzanne's Dead,
Once you begin, you have to give in to
Suzanne's Dead,
Get on your death, ‘cause everyone knows that

If the girl is dying,
Oh, you’ll catch on at once,
Well, watch Three's Company,
It’s the Suzanne's Dead!

Suzanne's Dead,
Start in to sing, then soon, you’ll be swinging,
Suzanne's Dead,
Turn on the heat, your girl will keep beating,

One, two, three,
It’s the death of her, (doo-doo-do-doo!)
You’ll agree,
It’s the step that Suzanne Somers is dying,

Suzanne's Dead,
Once you begin, you have to give in to
Suzanne's Dead,
Get on your toes, ‘cause everyone knows that

If you’re not a girl,
You’ll catch on at once,
But she is dying,
It’s the Suzanne's Dead, whoa!

Suzanne's Dead,
(instrumental call-back)
Suzanne's Dead,
(instrumental call-back)

One, two, three,
It’s a great sherriff, (doo-doo-do-doo!)
You’ll agree,
It’s the step that’s watching out for Step by Step,

Suzanne's Dead,
(instrumental call-back)
Suzanne's Dead,
(instrumental call-back)

If you’re not a girl,
You’ll catch on at once,
Simple as Step by Step,
It’s the Suzanne's Dead, whoa!

Simple as the day is long!
R.I.P. Suzanne Somers (1946-2023)

Oh, I’m lovin’ this! Captain Copy/Paste takes a page from Fedora Fred and posts a “parody” of his favorite song ever onto the board. So now Suck@AmIRight is going to do 300 more parodies of “Rhythm Steps” now? Posting “tributes” to deceased celebrities that no one else has ever heard of? That being said, it’s fascinating to see that you’re actually able to recognize your parody master’s favorite song. You might be an absolute moron when it comes to the English language, but hey, you do you.

"deceased celebrities that no one else has ever heard of". Dude if you've never heard of Suzanne Somers you have issues. B-O

Projecting much, Adam Bernstein? I wasn’t referring to Suzanne Somers as an unknown celebrity. I was referencing that dorsal orifice who posts the same song over and over. He refers to Sally Eilers, Carole Lombard, Helen Twelvetrees and other forgotten actresses because he is stuck in the 1930s. Suck@AmIRight would have then continued with parodies such as “Sally’s Dead”, “Carole’s Dead”, etc. Notice how he used “Rhythm Steps” to advertise NPR the day before his proxy ‘tard-bot used it for Suzanne’s death? Do you know anyone who has heard of Peggy Shannon, Arline Judge or Sheila Terry? George&GermaineBriantFan, but that’s it.

This parody has multiple issues. First, the pacing and grammar is extremely off. Second, it is in bad taste. Third, if you’re going to parody this song to celebrate someone’s death, be funny first. I also want to clarify that I have NEVER told Duc4AmIRight to parody this particular song, ever. I have never flat-out specifically told him that this is my most-parodied song. He figured it out by looking at my “NPR” entry on 10/16, and posted this the day after that. He did it back in July with “Joy Ride” on 7/6, posted the day after I submitted, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny”. And there is NOTHING at all to indicate that “Suck@AmIRight” would continue to parody this song 300 more times, let alone reference obscure 1930s actresses such as Sally Eilers & Peggy Shannon. I’m already well ahead of him, with more than eighty-five parodies of this song submitted to this site, and I don’t plan on going anywhere.

For comparison, we both did two parodies called “Bob Barker’s Dead” two days apart at the end of August. Duc4 did his first, and I did mine the following day. Which of us used “Rhythm Steps” first? I did, on 8/29. And when I used it, it was grammatically correct, was paced and rhymed correctly, and was pretty funny. OTOH, Duc4 just used a modern Top 20 song to parody. It is also worth stressing here, that besides suggesting to him only once to continue a lost TV show legacy, we don’t communicate with each other at all. Honestly, “Suck@AmIRight” is just a parody pawn that I took advantage of. I am not his mentor, just someone who initially believed that he would be a messenger for my works. Today’s submission has shown that this song cannot be parodied incorrectly, especially if you’re going to rhyme “Rhythm Steps” with “Someone’s Dead”. Disappointed, but not surprised.

OK, so you admit you used Captain Copy/Paste as a pawn for your obsession. Got it. But why this two-part post defending “Rhythm Steps”? The song that “Cannot be parodied incorrectly”? You used this song 85 times and not once were your submissions logical, witty or original. I’d really love to know exactly why you find this “song” so endlessly entertaining, seeing as you’ve parodied that one the most. How is this song “genius, witty and fun”? It’s just a novelty tune than no one else has ever heard of. The only thing we agree on is that this parody was in bad taste.

So you didn’t like the parody, Phil? I wasn’t too thrilled with it myself. Too illogical. But why this disgusting slam against “Rhythm Steps”? I see no problem with this song being parodied on this site, and it’s reasonably funny. Have you even heard the OS at all? If you played it just once, you would immediately realized why this song is so “endlessly entertaining”. And yes, it takes an artistic person to parody “Rhythm Steps” correctly. George&GermaineBriantFan has done this song 85 times and every time he uses it, it gets better. Duc4AmIRight has only done it twice and can’t even get the pacing or rhymes correct. It’s obvious why this song has become such a huge hit on this site; the more you bash this song, the more people are going to listen to it. Just curious, Phil; does it hurt to be that stupid?

Flooding the site with gushing comments about a song from 1935 in the wake of a beloved actress’s death is pretty desperate.

I’m just waiting for when we’re going to see a “Rhythm Steps” submission about Michael Richards’ death.

At least she appeared on Step by Step alongside Patrick Duffy.
