"Wedding Steps"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Do I really have to explain the story behind this?
Sing, (Start in to sing, you’ll have to swing,)
Then, you’ll swing, (Start in to sing, you’ll have to swing,)
That wedding is bound to get you,

Oh, (Turn on the heat, then beat your feet,)
Don’t go slow, (Turn on the heat, then beat your feet,)
That wedding is bound to get you,

Wedding... wedding... wedding... wedding... wedding... mmm...

(female vocal)

Wedding Steps,
Call for the rain, soon, it will be raining,
Wedding Steps,
Gifts & cake planned, almost out of handling,

One, two, three,
Take a brief vacation, (dee-de-oh!)
Gluten-free,
Is the cake that’s putting the guests on their feet,

Wedding Steps,
Once you begin, you have to give in to
Wedding Steps,
Get on your toes, ‘cause everyone knows that

If you’re not a dunce,
Oh, you’ll catch on at once,
Well, keep that cake gluten-free,
Do the Wedding Steps!

(vocal trio)

Wedding Steps,
Call for the rain, soon, it will be raining,
Wedding Steps,
Gifts & cake planned, almost out of handling,

One, two, three,
Take a brief vacation, (doo-doo-do-doo!)
Gluten-free,
Is the cake that’s putting the guests on their feet,

Wedding Steps,
Once you begin, you have to give in to
Wedding Steps,
Get on your toes, ‘cause everyone knows that

If you’re not a dunce,
You’ll catch on at once,
Keep that cake gluten-free,
Do the Wedding Steps, whoa!

Wedding Steps,
(instrumental call-back)
Wedding Steps,
(instrumental call-back)

One, two, three,
Take a brief vacation, (doo-doo-do-doo!)
Gluten-free,
Is the cake that’s putting the guests on their feet,

Wedding Steps,
(instrumental call-back)
Wedding Steps,
(instrumental call-back)

If you’re not a dunce,
You’ll catch on at once,
Keep that cake gluten-free,
Do the Wedding Steps, whoa!

Simple as the day is long!

This otherwise obscure song from late '35 was notable for being featured in the Warner Brothers cartoon, 'Coo-Coo Nut Grove' the following year - it's the instrumental swing number that's played after the Ben Bernie caricature says 'Now we'll indulge in a bit of the light fantastic, etcetera, etcetera...' It had always mystified me where that melody came from - I couldn't imagine they would have made it up solely for the cartoon. This is the only commercial recording of it I've heard.

There is one recording of this and there is ONE video of this recording. And you cant even make out the lyrics. And there is not a single comment, pro or con, about the lyrics. Which means, that other than you, nobody on this planet cares about these lyrics. And yet you've done fifty parodies of this "song" and then you say it is therapeutic somehow. But how can that be? The only reaction you get is either hostility or no reaction ...... If you like music from this era, could you at least do something thats familiar to SOMEBODY. How about Benny Goodman, Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Andrews Sisters, or Traditionl Songs. ... There are authors in the archives who were born in the Thirties. Check out "Airfarcewon" one of our most prolific authors (2200 submissions) who sadly is no longer with us. He has hundreds of examples for you
