Song Parodies -> (Something) Strange For This Parody
| Original Song Title: | "Stranger in Paradise" |
| Original Performer: | A. Borodin (by way of R. Wright/G. Forrest) |
| Parody Song Title: | "(Something) Strange For This Parody" |
| Parody Written by: | Stan Hall |
Melody and lyric merge a little more smoothy in "Prince Igor," methinks, but both are here presume the Wright/Forrest adaptation for the B'way musical, "Kismet."
I had planned
something strange for this parody.
Alas, instead it’s bland--
no danger, don’t wary be.
None will stand scarified
by insane eerie parody;
far short’ll it land. Besides,
it’s inane drivel, too.
I am disgraced, for I pretended
new words I used in place of old could scare.
But there’s no trace in what I’ve ended
up with. I know there’s no chance to repair.
Those who can serve up fearsome fare
in deranged, weird-o parodies
won’t ken because they’ve a flair
for scrawling good songs of gore.
Still, hope I can ingrain alarm,
scent of danger in parodies,
dispelling thus the need I feel
to strain for horror.

Ralphie as Adult:[narrating] A football? Oh no! What was I doing? Wake up, stupid! Wake up!
Santa: [to elves] OK, get him out of here.
Ralphie: [pushed down a slide, then climbing back up] No! No! I want to write the official scary-as-the movie "Psycho" parody!

don't know the OS but i enjoyed reading it as prose
Alvin, check http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EThw00bHrJs for a video of the OS. "Kismet," generally, and the eye-roller it makesof this song in particular, I quite dislike. Borodin's music in its original--tho' no less melodramtic--operatic context, I love. I claim the Emersonian defense against any who'd call that an inconsistency. :-)
You are becoming quite an established parodist. I have to give you kudos for that. Well done. 555
