The Lyrics

Allicat Verziggo Affirmative is back again. For a while, I haven't been too happy with my parodies, to tell the truth. Singing toilets? Dogs taking over the world? Seriously- that's not really the kind of stuff I enjoy writing about. I like my parodies to be about more real situations, eggaterated a bit. So that's why I'm actually pretty happy with this one! See, it's about how annoying it gets when people are really afraid of silly things, and they make you take care of their problems for them. (like I'm one to talk- spiders REALLY creep me out, but to me it's pathetic if someone's afraid of mice.) In this parody, Mr. and Mrs. Brown are both terrified of flies, and they make their son catch every fly that comes into their house. The kid is really annoyed at his parents, like especially when they say that bugs are all deadly, they'll kill you, stuff like that. (what kind of parent would make their kid risk their life for them anyway?) So he doesn't catch them either, (probably his parents scared him a little) nobody's getting rid of the flies. By the end, they've got a major insect problem. A very sad story..,. I know. LOL.
It's no secret that Mrs. Brown was afraid of flies
It's no secret that insects, they brought fear to her eyes
They say her son was sometimes annoyed by his mom
Cause she made him catch them when they flew into the room

It's no secret that her husband's the last person to help
It's no secret he's a liar, won't believe anyone else
They his secret was something he'd tell no other person
But it was that he's scared...

(Son)
Mom!
You are going way too far.
It is just a fly!
It's alright....
(Parents)
A bug can kill, a bug can crawl
Get the swatter out now
There's a fly on the wall!
It's no secret at all.

It's no secret that your parents can sometimes be a pest
It's no secret that having fear completely kills success.
The Brown family rule was that
Every insect is a theif.
So kill 'em when you see 'em
It brings so much relief!

(Son)
Mom!
You are going way too far!
It is just a fly.
It's alright...
(parents)
All bugs should die, all bugs should fall
Get the swatter out now
There's a fly on the wall!
It's no secret at all.

(son)
Mom!
You are going way too far!
It is just a fly.
It's alright...
Mom!
You are going way too far!
It is just a fly.
It's alright...
(parents)
All bugs should die, all bugs should fall
Get the swatter out now
There's a fly on the wall!
It's no secret at all.

It's no secret that their house is infested with flies
The son wouldn't catch them- wouldn't believe his parents lies
Look, you gotta go! Your house it has been changed
If you'd been braver, this could've been rearanged!!
Pretty random, huh. I have written a parody of Beautiful Day, also, but you can never make me submit that, people will hate it, especially if you like U2, you might think it's mean. (i know- i like U2, and I wrote it.) Just say, I think it was fun to write about someone's tragic fate, even if nobody hears it. I know there are people that forget that things like at are just jokes, plus I don't like to be mean.

While I'm posting this comment, I'm not very familiar with the original song, only vaguely. I will check out "The Fly," and then vote for your parody. It's good you now post parodies you're happy about, those are always the best. This comment will have a follow-up soon.

Well done, well paced... Okay, I've given a full 544, with the fours in this being a 4.3 for fun and overall. In my humble opinion, at some points, you chose to leave a lot of the original in, at the cost of consistency and sense. For instance "every insect is a thief"; you might have elaborated on this part, or you might have replaced "thief" with another word. It seems that you've only had a one-man audience today, I don't know why, because "The Fly" was a big hit. That's very unfortunate, because you need a lot of feedback. I am not a parody expert, I am a newbie. If you'd like to have a lot of feedback in the form of comments, try to submit parodies that were HUGE hits in the music charts. I know this advice sounds silly, but I have had to throw away to parodies of my own, because I realized that nobody would know the original song. Wish you the best, and I wish more people had read this parody. Feedback is important, everyone!

Thanks, Yet Another Dutchman- good advice! That is the reason why I often parody Vertigo, because on parodies of Vertigo, I've noticed more people read them. I'm working on another one of Vertigo right now, I also have one of Surrender by Cheap Trick, but I don't know if that's funny enough to submit, its more like I'm really mad than trying to write a good parody.

Allicat, I hope you are reading this: if a parody is just angry and not funny, you should not submit it. The motto of AmIRight is, after all, making FUN of music. If you write an angry parody, you should put a lot of jokes and puns in it, so that it will have a bit of an upbeat feel to it. Remember that people read this site to have a laugh. I'd like to give you another advice: try not to write parodies on the same song multiple times. Soon, you'll have three "Vertigo" parodies, and then everyone will already know that you can pace it perfectly, and they may lose interest. Your parody collection partially reflects your creativity as an author, so try varying between songs and artists and get into the feel of all the different songs out there to mould them into the parody you want it to be. Remember: keep having fun! When the fun ends, it's all over!
