A story about a woman who had a nice life til' she turned to drugs and got a boyfriend who didn't care about her. She would believe everything he and his friends would say and she became a liar too. All of the neighbors who once had respect for her lose it, but she thinks she is a threat to them not knowing that they are laughing at her. Her boyfriend tells her lies about how he isn't cheating on her, until she catches him walking with his ex. This is all from a child's point-of view. Watching their mother go from a good parent to being a dope head. Her boyfriend too is on drugs. The child is trying to tell their mother that she is being taken advantage of.
All last summer into mid-fall
do you think that you can recall
should I remind you of what I saw
beer, wine, and alcohol
all the lines they said to you were lies
months roll past and your money goes by fast
did you really think that it would last
they use you just to get what they need
blunts weed and ecstasy
you just didn't seem to want to believe
Whispers from the neighbors
they think you're mentally unstable
and they don't know
they don't know you
Rumors follow everywhere you go
like how you thought that no one would know
you're famous now and they laugh loud
you live in a dope house and you're so proud
they know you're lame, but they know what you're about
Whispers from the neighbors
they think you're mentally unstable
and they don't know you
they don't know you
Streetlights blink on through your car window
you hear it too often and you just want to know
he's walkin' with his ex that hoe
he's just like you cause he lies too
she walks in his house, you watch the lights go out
Whispers from the neighbors
they you're mentally unstable
and they don't know you
they don't know you (Repeat)
They don't know you...
do you think that you can recall
should I remind you of what I saw
beer, wine, and alcohol
all the lines they said to you were lies
months roll past and your money goes by fast
did you really think that it would last
they use you just to get what they need
blunts weed and ecstasy
you just didn't seem to want to believe
Whispers from the neighbors
they think you're mentally unstable
and they don't know
they don't know you
Rumors follow everywhere you go
like how you thought that no one would know
you're famous now and they laugh loud
you live in a dope house and you're so proud
they know you're lame, but they know what you're about
Whispers from the neighbors

they don't know you (Repeat)
They don't know you...
