The Lyrics

I thought I would write a tribute to my hometown team, who has been basically nonexistant for nearly 10 years. Hopefully, things will start to look up for them.
Sometimes it seems
Like we don't have a baseball team
The O's can't win a series, wherever they may go
But now this year
There might be a playoff coming here
You know our payroll
High enough to sign free agents
And get them to play

Are those Oriole birds
Set to blow all our minds
Or is Baltimore's faith in them blind?
We were waiting for an indication
Of a feel-good time
And when we watch them play, hope for something new
I always hate to see our home team lose
Our slump is gonna finally dry up
In a few years, might be in a World Series, too

[Instrumental Break]

Not since Iron Man Cal
Did I think we could be
Be in first place in the AL East
We've been waiting for that kind of spirit since
Nineteen eighty-three
To all the Yanks and Sox, better start to tear
You might just have to wait another year
Our O's are gonna finally rise up
Playoff time will be time to size up, too

With a crack of the bat
Is the team set to go?
With our heavy hitter, Palmeiro
We were hoping for all-star at pitcher
Got back Sid Ponson
Javy Lopez can catch, Tejada, he can hit
And all know how to run those bases quick
It's about time the Orioles showed up
If you're a fan, your banners should go up, too

Great job, Invincible. I live nowhere near the East Coast but it would be nice to see the Orioles (or the Red Sox, or even the D-Rays; anyone but the Yankees) finish in first this year. Anyway, 5's

Well written, but I'm not big on the sports ones.

(ABC) I agree with Rick D on this one, good write but I don't get most of the references.

I liked it, Invincible, but like the above comments, many of the things went over my head. Good one though!

That Tejada was impressive in the HR derby; good song though I don't know the original that well.

abc--Well, I relate to this one, growing up in Baltimore, and being a lifetime Orioles matter how hard Angelos makes it to be a fan =)

I agree with the other commnets .. it rads well even if the subject is unfamiliar... where I come from, the "Os" refers to a London Soccer Team.... we are supporters but usually they don't win too much! the upside is it's easy and cheap to get tickets to watch....
