As an old(er) fellow, it's no surprise that I am a fan of baseball rather than trendier sports like the N.B.A. and soccer. Here in greater Cincinnati, like the regular return of Halley's Comet, we Reds rooters can count on a contending (if not championship) team every 15 to 20 years (sometimes before that!). Am I an optomist? I'm a trombone player who thinks each phone call might be somebody hiring me for a gig...you figure it out. ;D
