As a kid growing up in the '70s, rocketry was super cool along with making models. Hobby shops were everywhere as well as Toys 'R Us. For the Estes rockets you needed rocket engines, the biggest of which were the totally awesome D12 0 booster engines which cost a lot back then and you had to get permission or be a certain age to buy.

Powerful and not so cheap
For a rocket launch,
You usually needed one or two,
On Estes power the rocket flew!
How it zoomed!

Behind the counter visibly,
18 to buy sucked,
Or you had to get approved,
