Would Christine happen to be the daughter of Imelda Marcos? (kids, ask your parents if you don't know who I'm referring to...)
When you announced the title I kinda jumped to the conclusion that "Because he knows there's no such thing" would be repeatedly replaced by "Because she's buying everything", but this got varied all the way to the end. Can't go wrong with a parody about women (or runners, or female runners) loving to shop for shoes.
