Parody Song Title:

"What's On TV Now?"

Parody Written by:

Joelle

Dedicated to my brother, a late night TV fan.By the way,he really does watch Carson & Leno!College has left me with very little time for parodies. Hope you enjoy this one.
What's on TV? I sit on the floor
Cable shows...1000 or more.
I can see that it's late at night.
I'm very wired , so don't turn off the light!
All I wish is to watch the set.
Go to bed? But I'm not ready yet!
I can't miss my favorite shows,
TV Land, and Carson, and Leno!

CHORUS:
What's on TV now? (4x)

What's on TV? Cable channels galore!
TV Land has Mary Tyler Moore.
Beaver says "Gee, Dad!" all day
Off at ten, but I can't sleep- No way!
The volume's down, and no one's awake
Turn the lights on, 'cause I want a piece of cake.
I like it here, just the tube and me.
Here comes Dad! He wants me to sleep!

CHORUS

Here comes my dad, cause he wants me in bed.
"Why not stay up?" I said.
"'Cause it's a school night," he spoke firmly.
You need sleep, can't you see?

Oh...What's on TV now?
Oh...Leave it on, leave it on!
Yeah yeah yeah

I'm glad this was short enough where I could read it during commercial break. OK, gotta go, my show's back on. By the way I'm watching cable channel 555.

Reminds me of Allen Sherman's "Al 'n' Yetta." And, of course, Bruce Springsteen's "57 Channels and Nothin' On." There was also a "Mad TV" parody with a guy dressed as Robin doing Eminem talking about "This s--- that's on TV!" He was upset at aging actors doing young people's shows, with two actresses obviously meant to be Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston, and the makeup artists put wrinkles on them. The best line -- unfortunately, the only line I remember -- was, "I can't watch no more Dawson's Creek! There's a bald spot on James Van Der Beek!" I wish I'd taped it. It was a freakin' riot.
