Amen! I just heard this song the other day, too- after not having heard it in years- it's still just as annoying as ever. I say, for punishment, we should force Terry Jacks to marry Debbie Boone! (Of "You Light Up My Life" fame)
455 - because I couldn't get all the pacing to work and there were unexpected non-rhymes - altho I can understand why you had to put "Achy Breaky" in there despite the non-rhyme - must feel good to get that off your chest , Jack!!
Yeah, that song stinks. I hate depressing songs. But this parody was good. 5's

"The stars we could reach were just starfish on the beach" is one of those so-bad-it's-good lines. Great choice of a song to target, Local Celeb. One of these days I'm going to have to dig out my CD with the Squirrels' cover of "Seasons in the Sun" (with a segue into "The Hustle") and make an MP3 copy for you. You'll enjoy it.
