The Lyrics

After seeing the documentary "Shackleton's Voyage of Endurance", I was inspired to write a song about a doomed Antarctic explorer. This parody is not based on any particular explorer. Enjoy the parody & the start of spring, but be mindful that while you do, this man awaits near the South Pole, looking for his next victim. DKTOS?
I know a tale from the days of old,
Of a man who fought the cold,
He yearned for his own foothold
At the Southern Pole.

He set out on his sailing ship,
He went on an Antarctic trip,
He struck a ‘berg and then he slipped
Into his icy tomb.

He’s the Iceman!
(He’s the Iceman)
He’s the Iceman!
(He’s the Iceman)
He’s undead, and he’s not very nice, man!

He’s the Iceman!
(He’s the Iceman)
He’s the Iceman!
(He’s the Iceman)
He’s concise & deadpan,
He’s devising a plan,
And he likes pork fried rice, man!

He’s the Iceman! [x4]

He’s been dead for a hundred years,
He always knows when you are near,
His mere sight always strikes fear
In the hearts of man!

When this poor guy froze off his ass,
Brain went cold & skin turned glass,
And his victims are aghast
Before they’re torn apart!

He’s the Iceman!
(He’s the Iceman)
He’s the Iceman!
(He’s the Iceman)
He’s undead, and he’s not very nice, man!

He’s the Iceman!
(He’s the Iceman)
He’s the Iceman!
(He’s the Iceman)
He’s concise & deadpan,
He’s devising a plan,
And he likes pork fried rice, man!

He’s the Iceman! [x4]

He’s the Iceman!
(He’s the Iceman)
He’s the Iceman!
(He’s the Iceman)
He’s undead, and he’s not very nice, man…

Great job... the OS is pretty cool, and it's good like your parodies generally are. Haven't seen you writing in a long time... 5s.

Dylan - This gives me the shivers (in the right way)! ;D

Thanks, everyone! To Andria: Yeah, I've been busy as of late, but by NO means have I retired! I don't think I'm gonna quit until I run out of ideas. To Old Man Ribber: Yes, this one tends to give people the cold shoulder ;)

You're welcome. I have been VERY busy with real life and working as a mod on a friend's forum, and am semi-retired from parody-writing. If I hadn't been thrown for a loop and had my life messed up in a number of ways back in 2007 (you might remember my exuberance and high level of activity here back then, with a sudden stop around November 8th, when the events happened), I might have ended in the top 20 of writers. Best of luck with real life & your parody writing. You are one of the better twentysomething authors here IMHO.

Yeah, how many other twentysomethings do you know who know about electronic disco songs from the 1970's?
Andria - March 23, 2011 - Report this comment
None. I'm 30, and I know of quite a few, only because I collect records, cassettes and 8-track tapes.

Really? Which ones do you know?
