Song Parodies -> Cuss Like a Sailor
| Original Song Title: | "Fly Like an Eagle" |
| Original Performer: | Steve Miller |
| Parody Song Title: | "Cuss Like a Sailor" |
| Parody Written by: | Gianni Parmesiani |
Grams keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin
Into the vulgar
Grams keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin
Into the vulgar
Grandma can cuss like a sailor
Believe me
Cuss like a sailor
Calls Gramps an "f"-ing "b"
Grandma can cuss like a sailor
With much glee
Oh, yes, she's beyond all reason
Cuss the grocer
'cause the brisket looks like crap
Cuss the grandkids
They won't sit on her lap
Cuss the birdies
Too loud for her nap
Oh, no, there's no off-season
Grandma can cuss like a sailor
Believe me
Cuss like a sailor
Calls Gramps an "f"-ing "b"
Grandma can cuss like a sailor
With much glee
Yes, she's beyond all reason
Grams keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin
Into the vulgar
Grams keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin
Into the vulgar
Grams keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin
Into the vulgar
Grams keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin
Into the vulgar
Grandma can cuss like a sailor
She is free
Cuss like a sailor
I feel like I'm gonna pee
Grandma can cuss like a sailor
with much glee
Yes, she's beyond all reason
Grams keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin
Into the vulgar
Grams keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin
Into the vulgar

Not bad, Gianni. Pacing was good, and funny idea of grandma swearing, but the "feel like I'm gonna pee" clunked a little. Something like "Laughing so hard I might pee" may have worked better. 544
554 here from me...not too much to work with after that second verse...what could have been done to avoid the repetition? (rhetorically speaking)
Valid question, Agrimorfee, rhetorical or not. As a new-comer, I guess I should ask the question about those very conventions. For example, should we as parodists stick to the original repetition in the song, or look to create new words for each repetition?
@#$%ing loved it

The refrain killed me.
What McKludge said. :-)
What Merry said that McKludge said! Also what Agri said! 5's :)
Sir, I'm so relieved that I attended the D. Campagna charm school as a teen!
