Good job Jon on this second endeavor. Did you remember the OS after you heard it?
Jonathan - February 03, 2017 - Report this comment

Larry - Thank You!
Janet - you lucky girl! RC Cola is extremely hard to find in my area! the only place that really has it, is one of my Albertson's stores, and they charge $5 for a 12-pack! (probably because it's so rare here!) anyway, thanks for the 5s!
Denny - alright buddy, drink up! and thanks for the 5s!
Rob Arndt - February 04, 2017 - Report this comment
That's weird, Jon. Where I'm at you can get a 2 liter bottle of RC Cola for 99¢ at Walmart or Grocery Outlet. But what happened to Slice? I heard it came back, but haven't see it anywhere. My Safeway has Clear Pepsi...
Jonathan - February 04, 2017 - Report this comment
^ you lucky so and so! I don't know why, but until a few years ago RC Cola kind of disappeared where I'm at. it came back of course, but to only one store for high dollar! and as for Slice, no idea, it's not available where I'm at either. and YES! Crystal Pepsi! that stuff rocks!

As an American who lived in Switzerland for 19 years, I think you are missing out on the good stuff. Ever try Choclo sparkling chocolate soda, Goba Cola with stevia, or Flauder with elderberry? I would say no because they don't export these. Go to Bern or around the country. Alpine sodas are popular too!
Jonathan - February 06, 2017 - Report this comment
^ Japan has some pretty tasty looking sodas, too! cherry blossom Pepsi for one! of course, Japan has the monopoly on Pepsi flavors I think. same with Kit-Kat bars. they have flavors there, we can't even begin to dream of here! needless to say, I would very much like to visit Japan one day!

^ You are not allowed to enter Japan, Jonathan. They have an immigration law that requires your IQ to be higher than your A1C.
Rob Arndt - February 07, 2017 - Report this comment
Jon, most of the Japanese Pepsi variants got bad reviews though like Pepsi Ice Cucumber and Pepsi Blue Hawaii. The former is described as toxic sludge and the latter like antifreeze! Azuka is just horrible. The Pepsi White looks like Pepsi Clear but has an orange taste! But at least these flavors are strong. Ordinarily Japanese sodas are weak. Btw, Japanese exotic Nakazawa milk is $43 a quart! A Kobe beef pizza is $66 and square watermelons can cost hundreds!
Jonathan - February 07, 2017 - Report this comment
K. Watanabe - yeah right, I buy that you're really Japanese. those guys know a little something about manners & respect, two areas you're clearly lacking in. if anything, I'd wager a guess that you're my usual detractor, right? the one who changes screen names more than they change their socks?
Rob - I dunno, my bro & I bought some Japanese Soda from an Asian Market in my town before, and it was pretty good! of course, that's not to say some soda/kit-kat flavors don't sound a bit weird to the American palate, but I'll try anything once! except for exotic milk, Kobe beef pizza, and square watermelons apparently...

Rob - I think I tried Dr. Pepper Red Fusion when it was out, but 2004 you say? figures, that was around the time no RC products were available at all where I live! so, I never got around to trying the "Edge" drink.
KW - well, I can see you're more the exception, than the rule. I greatly admire The Japanese, in large part, due to their politeness. something you clearly have no grasp of. also, because I can't help feeling the negative comments toward me are, in part, due to being A Trump supporter. (because anybody who has ANYTHING positive to say about the guy, instantly becomes public enemy #1!) you should know that many Japanese were happy for us that he won! that's right! look it up on youtube, if you don't believe me! even though they had nothing at stake in the matter, they still celebrated him winning for us! because The Japanese typically love Americans! and in my case, the feeling is usually mutual. with the exception of you, if you do in fact, hail from the Land of the Rising Sun, you little urchin!

Nanki Poo - February 07, 2017 - Report this comment
"The Japanese typically love Americans"? Just do some simple Googling, Jonathan, and read the facts. For example, from This Week in Asia, two days before the election:
"If the US presidential elections were being held in Japan, Donald Trump would not have a prayer of getting into the Oval Office.
"Research undertaken by the South China Morning Post shows that 88 per cent of Japanese voters would opt for Hillary Clinton, if they had a vote, with a mere 7 per cent having a positive personal impression of the Republican candidate."
You cannot do serious research on YouTube. No wonder you're an object of satire and derision!
@idiot above - February 07, 2017 - Report this comment
Googling isn't sh*t as polls can be manipulated with ease and change over time. What counts is actually being American and going to or living in Japan aka life experience. I've been to Japan many times and personally know many Americans that live in Japan. My own experience is one of being honored. The Japanese love to introduce American friends and accept American business cards. They have integrity and respect. And if you respect them and bow accordingly, expect Japanese kindness. Anthony Bourdain has gone there many times and is well respected. The Japanese love to hear about America and our culture which is everywhere present with clothing, collectors items, Coke, fast food, love of our movies and artists, ad infinitum. In America, Japanese clothing and items are trendy. Yes, we buy Japanese cars and electronics. But America has far more influence on Japan than the other way around. In general, I agree with Jonathan. The only time I ever heard anything bad about Americans is the military rapes. But even militarily Japan is moving towards the view of more than a Self-Defense Force in the modern world. It's quite obvious that you don't know what you're talking about. I have the Japanese friends to prove it.
Nanki Poo - February 07, 2017 - Report this comment
I could have selected a better quote from Jonathan, like "the Japanese were happy for us that [Trump] won." He's wrong. The Japanese are warm toward Americans and embrace much of the vulgarity of American pop culture, but they are ill-disposed toward the so-called American named Trump. They reacted to the election result with horror, probably because their respect for us was dishonored. And by the way, how many of your Japanese friends would call a stranger an "idiot" on a point of disagreement?

well, that spiraled out of control quickly. though I can't say I'm surprised. and all from a comment about Japanese treats too, how pathetic. full disclosure, I greatly admire the Japanese, but whether that K. Watanabe character really IS Japanese or not, they are nothing more than a snake in the grass, a real piece of Shiitake Mushroom! and to those who (predictably) got on me about Trump, at least he's not responsible for American deaths, unlike your precious Hillary. but in the end, I guess it was more important to "make history" with the first female president, huh? yup, clearly I made the wrong choice. oh, if only I had it to do over, you know what I'm gonna do? I'm gonna track down Doc Brown, and ask him to send me back in time, see if I can help George Soros change the outcome of the election, and then maybe I'll go vegan, and buy tickets to the Florida Georgia Line show!

Ben, Nehi sodas go back to the '60s. Everybody used to get them at the store in glass bottles. They were fruit flavored with grape and orange as most popular. Walmart Superstores should carry orange, grape, and even peach in the 12oz bottles (4 pack). If not, you can buy them online, but it's very expensive. BevMo (Beverages and More) may have them or your local import shop too.

Jon, too bad there's no real life Alamo Beer like "King of the Hill!" Even though I dislike all beer, I'd try one with you! And regarding hard sodas... they aren't bad. I think Henry's is the best. They have cherry and orange flavors and a new grape soda coming out. These types of sodas tend to have a stronger basic taste to accommodate the alcohol content. Purpose? Mainly to avoid having to mix sodas with alcohol manually into a red plastic cup! Like wine coolers, I might have a few in the summer when it's over 90o F. I hate wine but Jesus drank it on earth and it will be in heaven and the new earth in the future along with the water of life. I just hope there's more of a selection. Rob - my town doesn't seem to do much right. for example, at Jack In The Box one time the fam tried to get a combo meal which promised 4 tacos! but when we placed the order, we were told that it "didn't come with tacos here" I dunno, it's just weird. also weird, is that my Walmart doesn't have Moon Pies either! which, by the way, I understand were a favorite of Sam Walton's! they are available however, in the dollar section at my Albertson's! so at least there's that! maybe one day, while at Albertson's I'll pick up a box of Moon Pies and a case of (expensive) RC, just to try that combo! it sure sounds good! and as for our next parody, revoke my southern license right now. because believe it or not, I'm actually not a fan of "Sweet Home Alabama" (or southern rock in general for that matter!) however, I'll do it! should I start the lyrics, for you to complete and post? or should it be our previous arrangement? and finally, concerning Joe Dirt, I actually haven't seen that movie (or the sequel) yet, but I need to! David Spade is one funny Mofo!
Rocky & Tex - haven't tried either one of those, will look for them in stores. thanks!

So far Jon we've done two parodies about beverages. Is that a formula? Seems so...

Did you know that Coke came out with the first 3 liter bottles in 1985? And now they have tested a 30 liter bottle that is 4 ft tall and weighs 274 lbs! Has to carried out on a hand truck and lifted by 3 men. It's retail price is $109!!!

A crack team of scientists at Canada Dry recently developed a galaxy-size container of Blackhola© which can be compressed for ease of handling. You don't suck it in. It sucks you in.

Barry, the updated Burger King and Jack in the Box restaurants with the single multi-soda machines have Mr. Pibb as a selection. FYI

Jonathan, you should try Fest Bourbon Cream Soda. High class. From Louisiana.

^ never heard of it, but suppose it wouldn't hurt to check the grocery store. I trust Louisiana, after all, they gave us Popeye's chicken & Sammy Kershaw!

Jon, is this now the longest thread you've ever had? And do you have anything in the works right now?

Louisiana also gave us craps, the zydeco, the crank case, and Sazerac. Add the birthplace of Jazz and the first U.S. Opera. And, of course, plenty of sugar cane.
