Parody Song Title:

"Where's Old Ly-le Lovett ?"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

To make it work you have to put two syllables in Ly-le
Where's Old Ly-le Lovett ?
He don't sing much anymore
Messed up when he married Julia Roberts,
Mismatched, that's for sure..
He ain't on TV, don't hear his CD's
A has been, out the door..
Where's Old Ly-le Lovett ?
He don't sing much anymore...

He always did a lot of guest shots,
Showed up on those late shows
I wonder where he's disappeared to,
Hibernation, or who knows..
Used to kick back some off beat tunes
Kinda' liked to hear him play
If he ain't in re-hab, he oughta' come around
And not treat his fans this way..

Where's Old Ly-le Lovett ?
He don't sing much anymore
Messed up when he married Julia Roberts,
Mismatched, that's for sure..
He ain't on TV, don't hear his CD's
A has been out the door..
Where's Old Ly-le Lovett ?
He don't sing much anymore

He hails from a town down in Texas
Tall and lanky, kinda' crude
Sports a crazy high pomp haircut
He ain't your average dude..
At one time he toured in Germany,
May be back there, who can say ?
Played in some movies, got a crooked grin,
But he can't be found, today..

(So) Where's Old Ly-le Lovett ?
He ain't seen much anymore
Messed up when he married Julia Roberts
Mismatched, that's for sure..
He's not on TV, don't hear no CD's
A has been, out the door..
Where's Old Ly-le Lovett ?
He don't sing much anymore
........Where's Old Ly-le Lovett ?
He don't sing much anymore

I'm only familiar with one song of his, "Private Conversation". But, I liked that one. As John said, "Good question. Good parody". 555

Great job, AFW. 5''s. There's one Lyle song I like, 'I Married Her Just Because She Looks Like You' that I think would possibly make a good parody. I could never think of anything for it though.

Cool song idea, well executed. Lyle's early stuff was funny as hell.

I hooked up with his debut album and bought a few after that.

He's right here:
http://www.livedaily.com/news/8099.html?t=103
He didn't write any new material between 1996 and 2002 then moved off of MCA. Guess he got writer's block for awhile...

Oh, BTW 5's
