The Lyrics

The legend lives on from London town on down,
Of the London ULEZ zone, so they say,
The Thames it's named after, where the air was much softer,
Than the fumes that hang heavy today.
With a purpose so bold, they introduced a new code,
To limit emissions that cars could emit,
But as trucks and cars roared, the pollution still soared,
And the zone faced a challenging fit.

The wreck of the London ULEZ zone,
Where diesel exhaust was a dominant tone,
The smog it did loom, through the city it roamed,
In the London ULEZ zone.
In the year twenty-five, when the rules came alive,
They aimed to clear up the city's skies,
But the drivers were vexed, as they paid extra checks,
For their older vehicles they couldn't disguise.

The critics did scoff, as the fines they'd cast off,
Saying, "This plan, it won't work as planned!"
Yet the city pressed on, with the hope it was drawn,
To make London's air much cleaner, you understand.
The wreck of the London ULEZ zone,
Where diesel exhaust was a dominant tone,
The smog it did loom, through the city it roamed,
In the London ULEZ zone.

As the years rolled on by, some improvements did fly,
But the battle was far from complete,
For the air quality quest, put the city to the test,
And the challenge seemed tough to beat.
Though the ULEZ tried, and many complied,
With cleaner cars and less pollution,
The road ahead's long, to make the air strong,
It's a mission of great resolution.

The wreck of the London ULEZ zone,
Where diesel exhaust was a dominant tone,
The smog it did loom, through the city it roamed,
In the London ULEZ zone.
So remember the tale, of the ULEZ trail,
A quest for cleaner air in the land.
Though the journey is tough, it's a path with enough,
Determination to lend a helping hand.
