The Lyrics

An ode to Zombies, or... U will revive! Note: 'U' is NOT pronounced as 'You', but rather, 'OOOOOO' - almost as if one were speaking in Czech, E.G. the pub "U Fleku" in the 'Good Soldier Svejk'
At first, it was dead,
Perhaps, maybe mortified; (1)
Dead too long to live again,
Its stink no more could hide!
Lightning flashed, 'mid naked chants,
Lurid rune-exploded songs -
Oh, they were wrong
It rose up and grew strong!
Long weeks later...
From the underworld,
Stumbling, crawling, running,
Its lack of thoughts awhirl,
They thought it could be contained,
They thought that they could flee,
But they reckoned not the undead,
And undead ranks grow eternally!

Lurch away, into the darkness dim,
Gnash your rotting teeth,
Forsaken, no longer her or him,
Once these were people, they lived the daily lie,
Yet now they are undead,
We shall never hear them cry.
Dead and not die,
*U will Revive*,
As long as there is bone and meat,
Man shall not be left alive.
Such a short time left to live,
Nothing yet remains to give,
*U Will Revive*,
*U Will Revive*, Groan, Grind!

Climbed a rope into the sky,
Made a country underground,
Left behind the lethal lie,
Built bonfires all around.
In the midst of the smoke and flames,
Amid daylight and darkness grim,
Awaiting our time,
The sure and certain undead crime!
Here they come,
Stumbling lame,
A gray-toned ever-growing undead horde,
Only ourselves to blame.
From the sky like leaves they fall,
From the ground they spring up tall,
Our last stand becomes futile...
The Undead mob has set me free!

Lurch away, into the darkness dim,
Gnash our rotting teeth,
No matter, no longer her or him,
Once we were people and we lived a putrid lie,
Yet now all are undead,
Life is dead; no more can it cry.
Dead cannot die,
*U will Revive*,
As long as there is bone and meat,
We undead will shuffle our feet.
An eternity remains to move,
The undead have no use for love,
*U Will Revive*,
*U Will Revive*, Groan, Grind!

Lurch away, into the darkness dim,
Gnash our rotting teeth,
No matter, no longer her or him,
Once we were people and we lived a putrid lie,
Yet now all life is undead,
Life is dead; no more can it cry.
Dead cannot die,
*U will Revive*,
As long as there is bone and meat,
We undead will shuffle our feet.
An eternity remains to move,
The undead have no use for love,
*U Will Revive*,
*U Will Revive*, Groan, Grind!

1) Mortified: gone rotten.

There seem to be a lot of zombie songs around here recently. This is one of the best. I can visualize the putrefaction, almost smell it in your lyrics. I like the lines about "no longer he or she", "lived a putrid lie".
