Song Parodies -> "The New Malaise"

Original Song Title:

"Those Were The Days"

Parody Song Title:

"The New Malaise"

Parody Written by:

Old Man Ribber

The Lyrics

Of the two original songs with the same title, this is by far the easier of the two to parody. I sincerely doubt if the Archies and Ediths of today (OLR and I qualify in age) would be lost in maudlin nostalgia about the return of our "National Malaise". ;D

Lots of people out of work.
Leaders giving us a smirk
As they guard each special "perk".
The New Malaise!

Squeezing us for ev'ry dime,
Slinging lots of mud and slime.
They just care about one thing -
Get re-elected next time!

Venomous self-serving press.
Gloom and doom and much distress.
How'd we get in such a mess?
The New Malaise!

I guess you could say I'm giving the times a "Lear", but...as we know..."Norman" is an island! ;D

We could choose a man like Jimmy Carter again? Great update. 555

Actually, unlike BHO, JEC had run a business (his peanut farm). Thomas Woodrow Wilson was an academic who jumped into politics (NJ governor) at age 54, then 2 years later to an 8-year presidency. So BHO is more like TWW than JEC (but I'm hoping against the 8 years).

BJM - The Wison comparison is VERY appropriate. NO business experience, TWO years of major governmental service, sanctimonious and supercillious air of superiority. ;D

I remember Jimmy Carter. A great ex-president. Let's give Obama the chance to achieve the same greatness.
