The Lyrics

Game 4, 2018 World Series: LA Dodgers with 4-0 lead into 7th inning end up losing 9-6. A win would have tied the series at 2-2 and given the underdog Dodgers a decent shot at winning the title, but it was not to be. But the Red Sox were clearly the better team and deserved to win. Still, as a Dodger fan since moving to LA in 1959 I was really disappointed.
They lost the game
Now we creep into November
And now I groan
Sitting on my sofa
Fourth game they did blow
As I sit crestfallen
silently I know
Lost to the 'Sox
out on the diamond

Four straight balls
A four-spot went like lightning
Our bullpen was not too great
Then Kenley could not end it
Dodgers blew the game
Disaster in the last remaining frame
That sure did suck
And now I'm whining

It sure did suck
Laid a turd in that Game 4
I'm shrieking at my own TV
Reliever's turned to bumblers
The 'Sox were not denied
Their hits evaded gloves
and they end up scoring "9"
Those damn Red Sox
They won the title

I could not look
Smoked a bowl of weed to distract me *
Kike's 2-run homer
Didn't salve my gloom
Dodger's still were doomed
The 'bums were done; three games they'd have to sweep
So the Red Sox
would win the title

When the 'Sox won that game
Hopes of title here did die
* I actually haven't smoked any weed since about 2001, but if I'd had any l certainly would have lit up in the 9th inning.

Like the parody. Like the results of the Series--sorry to say.

Maybe the answer is the Red Sox were just too good this year. They won 108 games this year (Could have been 110, easy) and beat three 100-win teams in 5 games, or less. No team has ever done that before ..... Of course, there's the new wrinkle of the playoffs, but even before that only three teams have won 108 games or more plus the World Series in past fifty years -- '98 Yankees (114), '86 Mets (108), '75 Reds (108) and '70 Orioles (108)

Thanks, guys. Yeah, the Red Sox were clearly the best team in baseball this season and proved it in the Series. Still, if LA holds game 4 they would have had a shot at winning.

Disappointed at looking so bad overall, but I must give the 'Sox props. They did everything they needed to in order prevail, going 11-4 en route to the title. The Dodgers gave us an exciting season, especially going 25-10 from late August to win their division. Consider this piece an attempt at catharsis.

Being one of those rare breeds of Aussie who enjoys Baseball - and also being a Dodgers fan since the late 80s - it is a real problem over here to get to see much of it. There is one game a day on Pay TV, obviously that means the Dodgers are on occasionally. Still I follow their results and was really happy when they got through the NLCS so well and made the Finals. Got to see all of the Finals. It galls to me admit Boston were the better team overall. Next year, Paul! (I took Merry to watch the Dodgers v the Giants when I visited in 2006. The game only lasted an d hour and a half and it took twice that time to get out of the carpark. For the record, Dodgers won 3-1. Good memories.) Like you, I was disappointed with Game 4. Enjoyed the parody and good choice of OS for it.

Per - Thanks, and yes, I'm moving past the loss and starting to think about and look forward to next season. It appears the Dodgers will once again be competitive and have a decent chance of returning to the WS. On the TV front this town has a logjam as far viewing the Dodgers - only Spectrum/Charter subscriber's get all the games, so those fans with other systems do not. However the Dodgers are often featured on ESPN or FS1 and we DO get those games.
