"Late Trading"

Stern's hedge fund, Canary, was accused by Spitzer of "late-day trading," the term for buying mutual fund shares at their closing price(NAV) after the close of U.S. stock market trading at 4:00 p.m. ET, allowing the firm to profit from corporate news released after the closing bell. The law requires mutual-fund trades made after the close to be processed at the next day's share value, to keep late traders from having an advantage over others. "Late-day trading is like being permitted to bet on yesterday's horse races," Spitzer said. "You already know who's going to win." Despite the illegality of these trades, Spitzer alleged, Bank of America gave Canary special software that allowed it to circumvent the rules and make after-hours trades at closing prices, in return for "millions" in fees"(sticky money)

C'mon invest in my hedge fund and I'll see you right
I've the got the edge and I'm winning the fight
You'll make returns that are so outa sight
Cos I use my secret weapon till just around midnight yeah

Late Trading
That makes me feel so good
Late Trading
Just Like investin' should

I used to play my Sticky Fingers album night and day
But now its sticky money that I love to pay
I just lay it on those mutuals "ooh that's cool" they say
Now you can use our NAV till just around midnight yeah

Late tradin
etc

That Eliot Spitzer he say what have we here?
This really has to stop now do I make myself clear?
It's not your clever trading that has got you an edge
You're bettin on a winner so you don't need to hedge!!
no no

I'll sue ya
Ooh that makes me feel so good
I'll do ya
Just like a DA should

Very good, Martha... and I did like the "Late-day trading is like being permitted to bet on yesterday's horse races" quote :-)

That Canary is not feasting on bird feed. Very good spoof, especially the "sticky fingers/stick money" couplet.
