Song Parodies -> "Christmas Bills"

Original Song Title:

"Jingle Bells"

Original Performer:

Gene Autry

Parody Song Title:

"Christmas Bills"

Parody Written by:

Mark Scotti

The Lyrics

Submitted and produced on Q104.3 NYC
Dashing thru the malls,
Knocking people out of my way,
Thru the stores I go,
Charging more each day

Bells on registers ring,
The owners swell with pride,
When I get home at the end of the day,
I think I'm gonna find

(Chorus)

Christmas Bills,
Christmas Bills,
Never go away

Just when you thought you paid one off,
There's ten more bills to pay,
HEY!

Christmas Bills,
Christmas Bills,
Most hated time of year

Just makes me want to fall right down,
And drown in Christmas cheer!!!!!

Too many syllables on some lines, but funny idea and so true.

It was one of the first parodies that wrote(over 18 years ago). Funny story about it. I use to sing it around the holidays with the kids in the car, and they always laughed about it. Then, a few years ago, they suggested that I should do something with it. I sent it into a radio station, and they recorded it, played it, and gave me credit on the air. It was my defining "parody" moment!!!

Ironic I read this right after submitting my new parody "Christmas Shopping", set to "Winter Party" by Breakerz. You should check mine out when it gets uploaded (hopefully) tomorrow. You wrote this 18 years ago? I think one of my first song parodies was "The Devil Went Down To Gamestop" which was written when I was about 13 (I'm 15 now) and is yet to be posted. 555

Thanks, DJ! Surprisingly enough, I sent it into a radio station, and they produced it and played it on air. It's posted here: http://www.amiright.com/performances/items/performances_1248321649.shtml
