The Lyrics

Try'n to see if in the fridge
The light still shines
Open, close the door
About a thousand times
Gotta' have fast eyes,
I guess mine aren't that kind
Try'n to see if in the fridge
The light still shines..

Try'n to see if in the fridge
The light's still on
When the door is closed
Is all the glimmer gone..
Been here since this morning
Starting in to yawn,
Try'n to see if in the fridge
The light's still on..

Try'n to see if in the fridge
The light still shines
Open, close the door
About a thousand times
Gotta' have fast eyes,
I guess mine aren't that kind
Try'n to see if in the fridge
The light still shines..

Want to conserve power
They say that's what we should do
A lower cost electric bill
Would sure help, too
Been peekin' for a week, now
Door, I can't see thru..
And almost break my neck
To see if it is true

Try'n to see if in the fridge
The light still shines
Open, close the door
About a thousand times
Gotta' have fast eyes,
I guess mine aren't that kind
Try'n to see if in the fridge
The light still shines..

I went and got my grandson,
He's just two feet high
Took out a couple racks
And let him sit inside
Opened the door and asked him
Was the light on, Clyde?
He said I didn't see no light
And grinned real wide..

Try'n to see if in the fridge
The light still shines
Open, close the door
About a thousand times
Gotta' have fast eyes,
I guess mine aren't that kind
Try'n to see if in the fridge
The light still shines..

Good rewrite of a country oldie there, AFW, and I will say outright that there is no light at all in the refrigerator where I live now. With my pink Philco fridge, which is at least 50 years old, a light probably wasn't even an option when it was new. 555 replacement refrigerator lightbulbs are coming your way.
