The Lyrics

Here it is...the first parody ever about Jay Carney, new Presidential Press Secretary. Although not a "household name", Mr. Carney was a correspondent for Time Magazine and C.N.N. before becoming chief spokesman for Vice-President Joe Biden (no easy job there!). The original song by Connie Vannett is from the soundtrack of the John Waters film "A Dirty Shame". It's a most suggestive OS (when heard in the right frame of mind, it's downright dirty!) If you don't know it, check it out on Youtube. Not that Carney is a's the FORM that's irresistible. And, if you think about it, Obama has just replaced a huckster with a "Carney"! ;D

Old Robert Gibbs was finishing - his White House stay,
The Press Secretary's now - a fellow named Jay .
Jay Carney! Jay...Carney!
He's a friendly little guy!

The Press Secretary gets - a clean fresh new start,
'Cause speaking for the President - is quite an art.
Art Carney! Jay...Art...Carney!
He will give the job a try.

The Secretary's got to be - honest when on,
And Gibbs's new replacement - will not be a con.
Con Carney! Jay...Art...Con...Carney!
Bet you'll never see him cry.

The Secretary has to do - his job with great care,
And even more importantly - he's got to be fair.
Fair Carney! Jay...Art...Con...Fair...Carney!
Worked for Time and they don't lie.

To work for the President - would make a man proud,
So double talk and slips of tongue - are not a-llowed.
Loud Carney! Jay...Art...Con...Fair...Loud...Carney!
Spoke for Biden - my oh my.

The new Press Secretary will be - heaven sent,
To help the President will be - his main in-tent.
Tent Carney! Jay...Art...Con...Fair...Loud...Tent...Carney!
How they hope he won't be shy.

Yes, Ms. Maddow of M.S.N.B.C.? Mr. Evan Thomas of Newsweek? Shut up, Hannity!

The term "carney" is slang for anybody who works at a carnival or fair. Welcome to The Big Time, Jay. ;D

I remember finding the original 45 rpm at a store selling off old juke box records. The fellows in the record club got quite a laugh from it. This situation reminds of an old episode of the Beverly Hillbillies. The Drysdale's son asked for his musical instrument "Fetch my lyre". Jethro overheard him and thought "Wow, this fellow is so rich he pays someone else to do his lying for him".

It's all good now, but how long do you think the "honeymoon" will last? ;-D

Spokesman for Joe Biden? DK he had one; else, he'd never have been allowed to open his own mouth. ;)
You Kramden a lot of good stuff, but the last phrase of the intro is what sent me to the moon! Bang, zoom! ... and even Ed NorTTon couldn't clean up the current sewage in Washington. 555
