Story about this misheard lyric by: Ken McCrimmon When I was a young boy, I was playing my brand new 45 rpm copy of Jimmy Clanton's 'Go, Jimmy, Go' on my phonograph one afternoon. My father, who was walking down the hallway, stopped at my open door and listened for a few seconds. Then he asked, 'What is he singing? Don't gimme Coke?' It wasn't until years later that I realized what his real concern may have been. Perhaps he thought the song was about drugs! |
