Names -> Cool Band Names -> D, Page 1

Whenever I hear a cool phrase somewhere, I like to exclaim "That would make a cool band name". This page is a list of such names.

I can not verify whether these names have been taken yet or not. If your band happens to already use one of these names sorry. If you want to use a name you see here, you'll need to verify it's not already in use.

D' Vivace I think it's cool because it sounds expensive, 'expensive' meaning 'really good'. I had read a book about music that "vivace" means lively and brisks. chram
D-May Jole My mum asked me if I wanted to practice my scale of D Major. Or play some more games. And I had an electronic game called DJ Mole, and I said to play D-May Jole ("DJ Mole" swapped round, and sounding like "D Major".) sonikal
D.A.N.G Kinduva tribute to Napoleon Dynamite. My friends said it could translate to mean "Dogs Anticipate Neon Goodies". That's kinda weird to me, but whatever. I think it's cool. IndiGO Rookie

D.I.E. (Devine Inner Exemption) I like this name, simply because I was thinking of how one can EXEMPT themselves from feeling emotional pain. And thus it would be DEVINE simply because it's non human. And emotion only happen one the INSIDE... soo it's a DEVINE INNER EXEMPTION from emotional stress and pain. But only the strong are able to do such a thing... Mario Gaudet
D.O.T. ( Dirty Ol' Troll ) What I invision whenever I hear Jethro Tull sing "Aqualung". This is what most young cool dudes today will eventually grow up to be. So, ladies, you've been warned!  Gary Gray

They were making fun of how K-Fed got that text-breakup-message from Britney, so this one guy supposedly being "interviewed" shows, among other breakup messages (me -u + :) for example.),one that says "d8ing u sux". It was so hilarious, I had to laugh! I think it makes for a brilliant band name! (especially if you're in a position like the All-American Rejects) Jonaphantom
Da emolishionerz or D.I.P (Demolition in Progress) My friend and I were walking one day. We came up to a sign that said "Demolition In Progress". We thought it was cool. guy

Daddy's Sausage Remember "Daddy Would You Like Some Sausage?" from Freddy Got Fingered? exactly. Junior
Dado and The Buttjoints I had a shop teacher that was an ex-crackhead that was on the work release program (yes, I'm being serious.) He said you could fix anything with a dado or a buttjoint--commonly used joints in woodworking. I thought it would be a great band name. The Anonymous Adam Keune
The Daffy Bastards In the movie "The King of Comedy", Rupert Pupkin (Robert Deniro) imagines he's a guest on Jerry Langford's (Jerry Lewis) talk show. He says something clever and Jerry cracks up, calling him a "daffy bastard". Lousy movie. Great band name. headman
DAGEGEN! German word for "Against it!", but sounds much cooler... Chnodomar
Daggerhart We were looking through some kid's yearbook and saw this kid named Preston Dagenhart. We're like, 'oh my Lord that's the coolest name EVER'. Try saying it with a British accent. undefined
Dahmer Daycare This is a real cool name I think. I mean it's just kind of sick if you think about it. Mike
Dain Bramage It's like 'brain damage', but the 'brain damage' is so bad that the words are rearranged. The first cd could be called "Severe". boese
The Daleks After those moving vending machines with plungers sticking out of them from DR WHO! They're COOL! eleanor
Dam Dikes Double wordplay equals good name. Whoo-Hoo
Damn Neighbor Kids This is the possible name of me & my friends' band. It was a line in this movie we filmed, & I thought it sounded cool. Jake

Damned Magic My mate kept saying to me 'It's just magic'. so one day i turned round and said 'you and your Damned Magic' And we were both like....wow Bezi
Dan Situation Because this totally rockin' name is a total pun. Kinda. Dan Situation = Dance Situation. A great name for a Christian Rap band. Dan Situation
Dan's Blender There's a juice bar where I live and most of the blenders have unique names, like 'The Smashing Ashleigh' or 'Teana's Banannas'. Then there's this one that's just called 'Dan's Blender'. H. Kreuger
Dance Into The Fire The phrase "dance into the fire" from the chorus of the James Bond theme song "A View to a Kill" just struck my interest as a great name for a punkish band. Amelia
Dance the Dawn Away  Cpt. Neeb
Dancing Sadness It was just after listening to "From The Inside" that I came up with this. Their songs would seem really fun and dancing-to at first, but if you really listened to the lyrics, you would find that they're talking about the tough stuff in life. Just like the song that inspired the name. Douglas Bucksworth aka D.B.
The Dancing Wu-Fing Masters It's actually the title of a physics book that I my friend just happened to see at barnes&noble. I thought it would make an awesome band name. Hannie
The Dandelion Wither Episode Who knows?! It just came to me when trying to batter out a decent name for the band I'm in. The words just mixed and filled this name. I hope the rest of the band will agree on the name! Geoff

The Dandy Lions this is amazing b/c most people would think oh it is just some stupid weed BUT NO.. it is about amazing lions that are cool and dandy.... amen to that daniel denson
Danger At Building 3 It's the name of my band. When I was younger, in the midst of my bad childhood, I lived in the third building on the block. Always Danger. Drew

Dangerous Microphone Gravy I got it from a band name generator. JeReMy
Dangerous Shorebreak Yesterday was a good sunny day to take a walk by the beach. I was sitting on the ground and heard a (I suppose) mother screaming out loud to his (I suppose) son (who was running on the edge of the sea water): "The sea is very strong here! Be careful with the shorebreak!" FZodiac
Daniel Plainview's Milksake Drinkers In the movie "there will be blood," daniel plainview (daniel day-lewis) has this line: "i drink your milkshake!" it soon became something really funny (but only if you had seen the movie, then snl ruined the inside-ness of it when they did a skit about it...Oh well...) I just thought it'd make a good band name (if everyone in ur band likes the movie as much as I do) George Napper
The Danks Dank means good quality marijuana, so I think would be a good name for a chill or punk band. John
Danny Bonaduce and the Soul Explosion A Houston college band from the 80's. Big Daddy Horne
The Danny Bonaduce Soul Explosion This is the 80's college band from Houston that everyone is talking about. Big Daddy Horne

Daring Puppet Boxers Well how many households with adolescent males, that have had a line of family members waiting to use the bathroom have called on dear ol' dad to tactfully remedy the situation. The banging on the bathroom door and yelling, "Quit boxing the puppet and get yer ass outa there others live here too you know"!!  badboybear
Dark Army Ok, I was just listening to Sum 41's Introduction to Destruction, and it says, "....to a group that will appear and guide you through this final year. The dark armies then will come, when the sum is 41." i just think that the name sounds all mysterious and powerful.... WHOOO! DARIA!
Dark Asplexyc Syndrome Well, "dark" just naturally sounds cool, and "Asplexyc Syndrome" is a combination of two mental conditions: Asperger Syndrome, and dyslexia. (I can't believe I just spelt that right!) Anonymous Bob
The Dark Carnival i was listening to a kick *** song and it said the darkness is coming then somthing about a carnival...te he...thats how i got it! India
Dark Fuzzy Satanic Warlord Kittens This is such an inside joke that I don't believe that a 1000 paged 21-set volume series could explain this name. Probably could never be used but I figured I should post it for pure boredom's sake. Amazing
Dark Matamorphosis It's kool because it means dark change and it's the name of my band. J.J.
Dark Meat Safari Jungle boogie for all..... dwain young

Darkly Dreaming from the book/tv show Dexter - Darkly Dreaming Dexter Austin Arcady
Darling Moustache Well, for a while I've been irritating my friends by throwing "darling" into almost every sentence. I like the word. And recently I've started to listen to Queen - for a while Freddie Mercury had a moustache. I was contemplating the word moustache (I have an excuse! I was bored) and I thought sticking another word in front of it would be a cool band name. Naturally, "darling" came to mind, me being obsessed with the word and Darling Moustache was born/created. This name idea is one I might use if I ever do a band! In fact...think I'll set up a really awful band just so I can use the name. Or maybe Microscopic Omlette Moustache. Just because it sounds oddly cool. GoldenMarshmallow
Darth Bob Darth Vader's brother....never quite made it to the big screen. BadKarma Chameleon
Darth Vader Is My Father Come on...you have to admit this is a cool name. I was researching Jediism during RE class and then my friend started reenacting a scene from Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back when Darth Vader tells Luke he's his father. I thought that was an epic scene and named my band after it.  Dragon (yes, real name)
Darvon U. Darvon is a fairly big-time downer, a pain-killer. Of course, U. is university. My friend, S___, was in a band that played huge, slo-motion, moody rock. I offered her this name. It was rejected. Sid Pink
Darwin's Dead (Get over it!) Great name for a Christian Band, states the facts rather well, LOL! john cummins
Darwin's Waiting Room I did check it out and an Alt Rock band from around 2000 used it, but I think they're disbanded. I think it's cool because we initially used it as a joke phrase referring to our local area because of how backwards it is- like about 10 to 20 years behind the rest of the world. Plus it also conjures up some pretty amusing images like an ape on a toilet reading Darwin's "Origin of the Species". Ray Wagner
The Dash The dash between the date of birth and date of death on a tombstone. It reminded me of how short life is. Jordan Smith
Dastardly Deed Well I was watching this video in Chemistry about this serial arsonist that was caught because he used the old-time phrase "Dastardly Deed" in reoccuring documents found at the scene. Anyways, I thought that the phrase was cool. Big J
Daughters Of Kain the name sybolizes the daughters of kain (aka:Cain) in the Bible, Cain was the first murderer. so its pretty cool for a girl rock band. lola
Daughters of the Abyss It's a euphymism for prostitutes, mostly in the Victorian era. This would be an exceptional name, I feel, for a Slayer/Sepultura type band. Or even better, a country-folk duo. MJ Bell
Daughters of Topo Gigio They could be a petite pile of "dy-no-mite" as topo would say. Badboybear
Dave's Lawn It isn't, its just unique to anyone named dave with a lawn. Justin
Dave's Wall It's a combo of my last name (Wall) and my friend's last name (Davies). Put together, it sounded cool!  jo

The Davy Jones Crocodile Machine Based off a blooper from POTC2: Dead Man's Chest. Josh

Day Moon One day I saw a Full Moon in the middle of the day. It seemed so out of place ... so surreal. I yelled "Day Moon!" to my girlfriend and she replied "Cool name for a band!" Patrick Coston
Day Of The Bad Smelling Juans This would be a great band name. Because sometimes people smell bad. It should be for like a classical band or somethin! Juan is a name meaning john so it wood be very international. John Bartholomew
Day Old Bagels Sign my brother and I saw on the counter at a (guess...Yes!) a coffee shop. Deb
Day Old Sushi We were living in NY and they would sell sushi just about anywhere. So I saw some sushi for sale at a deli (I think) and uttered something about "day old sush"... for some reason I thought it sounded like a funny/cool punkish type band name. Amy
The Day The Music Died I think this pretty much sums up the state of the music industry today especially here in Britain where music is no longer music, it's all manufactured crap from record companies looking to make a quick buck. Ben Singer
The Day The World Folded In On Itself Kinda lenghty, but I still think that the name gives a certain sense of distruction to the mind whenever you say it. Janice
Daydream I came up with it while sitting in class bored. Topsy kretts
Daydreams and Daisies I'm thinking indie band or pop punk idk.  Elise Triantafyllou

The Days That Say Elbow It comes from word play, as a variation on "The Knights That Say Ni" from "Monty Python And The Holy Grail". D. Melody Dole, MD
Daze One Because it was taken from a piece of graffiti but it was spelt dayz 1 so we changed it to a different uncorrect spelling instead of having just days 1 Sam Irvine
The Dazed well me and my buds were in my garage and were trying to come up with a name and my friend nic was stoned out of his mind and i said man, your comepletely dazed. Then my friend kevin said hey that should be our name, ' The Dazed' Adam Ward
The Dazed And Confused i got it from the movie dazed and confused sean
DC 4 Music Mix Me and my band thinks it is very cool, we came up with it together. The reason why it is DC '4' is because there is four of us. The DC part is because all of our favourite stores is DC. And we just thought that Music Mix is a cool ending. Victoria
De Gazale  Well it was a couple of words from places of San Andreas. I though it would be a good idea to mix a few up to see what happend. Dominc
De$troid PuNk ITs kewl because we were writing a report for this gig to see if we won and could preform and our name was 4 man army but i wrote about how the style of certain bands Destroid Punk and i kinda thought to myself that that would be a good band name and song name. MAx Chapman
Dead 'Til Friday Friday is when everyone comes alive and partyyyyyyy. k.a. scott
Dead Ball 43 I was out bowling late night - somebody let their little kid throw the ball down the lane, only it didn't get all the way to the pins...it just stopped halfway down the lane. Over the loud speaker "Dead Ball 43" (they were on lane 43). And it fits the trend of "number bands" like Blink 182, Sum 41, etc Fryguy
