Dean Gray's amazing mashup album, American Album, which pays tribute to Green Day's album American Idiot, was shut down after being cease-and-desisted only 10 days after it went online. It was not being sold for profit; Gray asked only that those who enjoyed it support him by donating to any of a number of charities Green Day has been known to support. Certain mashup aficionados are, therefore, attempting to produce the same sort of media circus that surrounded DJ Dangermouse's now-famous Grey Album, declaring Dec. 13th, 2005, aptly enough, "Dean Gray Tuesday" (after Grey Tuesday). On that day, they hope a large number of sites will offer the album for download, and many will come to hear it, as a "display of the consumptive power of the mash-up and home remix community in the hopes of encouraging the labels, publishers and artists who are curious about the mash-up community to consider giving the high quality productions of "illegitimate" music a legitimate consideration as a promotional avenue for all music."Full story is at Dean Gray . Just to note, i am not copying this guy with my American Idiot Album parody. But it's sly it's been shut down when he isn't doing it for money, only charities
Okay, what the hell is the issue here? Is Dean Gray another liberal or a Green Day protestor?
He's neither. He's a mashup artist. He mixed the entire album, using samples from other popular songs, to create a new work. The record labels shut him down, because they don't get money from it (no one gets money from it).

I thought I noticed a similarity... "Dean Gray" is a spoonerism of the band name "Green Day"! Is Dean Gray his real name??
