I can remember when Take That were in their heyday, and the Mirror mistakenly listed 'It Only Takes A Minute' as being written by Gary Barlow when Tavares had the American hit with it about 15 years before! Us Brits had got the cover by One Hundred Ton and A Feather (another Jonathan King alias) pre-Take That, but the Mirror weren't going to mention King given his Tory leanings and his eventual conviction as a paedophile.

I've also seen the Talking Heads referred to as the author of Al Green's "Take Me to the River" in reference to Al Green performing the song, ie. "Al Green performs the Talking Heads 'Take me to the River'".

I once saw an interview where Robert Plant hated kids who thought "the f---ing Power Station" were the creators of "Bang a Gong, Get It On," the 1972 T. Rex classic. (Gotta parody that sometime. Let's see, who on this site has the teeth of the hydra upon her, and she's dirty and sweet, oh yeah?)

While I like both versions of Bang a Gong", I think I lean more towards the remake. Sad I know. It's due to the Duran Duran connection of course. Just so long as kids some day don't think Marilyn Manson wrote "Sweet Dreams" or that lame metal band wrote "Cars" instead of Gary Numan.

You mean John Mellencamp didn't write "Rave On" for Buddy Holly and Van Halen didn't do "Happy Trails" first???? ;D ;D

Wow, yeah. That's a pretty serious case of mistaken identiy. On another note, I saw "Walking the Line" tonight and was extremely impressed. Joaquine Phoenix gets my personal nomination for the best actor award. Best movie I've seen this year by a VERY large margin. Phenomenal story about an amazing artist, who just happened to cover a song done by another amazing artist. Long live Trent Reznor!
