NBC plans to air "A Clay Aiken Christmas". Is this a sign the apocolypse is near, or just a sign that Americans have no taste?

I started giggling (out of partial disbelief, partial amusement, partial horror and partial embarrassment) when I saw the title. The ancient Mayans' calendar actually states that the world will end in 2012, but by the looks of things it'll be sooner than even that. (By the way -- embarrassment, because I have Clay Aiken's CD.)

So, what would be a better alternative--"A Ruben Studdard Christmas?"

I think a better alternaitve is a reality program where American Idol contestants are hunted for their vocal chords by large beasts that rip them out violently. I'm sure Simon would grade the final death rattles and gurgles and then make a mix CD and sell it at Walmart.

Personally, I think Clay is a wonderful singer, and I don't see what's so bad about "A Clay Aiken Christmas."
