Weird Al Yankovic has agreed to preform a parody submitted to this site in the past month. This is an amIright first! Legally I can't reveal which one yet, so you'll just have to be patient.

"I Fell For April Fool's (Chucky's Prank)" by Chris Bodily TM
Originally "I Lost on Jeopardy" by Weird Al Yankovic
Chris Bodily TM: I reccommend "I Fell For April Fool's" because it was based on the fact that I thought it was all true! I wanted "Weird Al" to sing "The Pong Song," but it ain't gonna happen!

in 9 years of running websites, it's the first time I tried an April Fools joke... so I guess it wasn't going to be the best April Fools joke of all time, but hey... it's the thought that counts.

I have to admit it got me for a few seconds. Then I thought "Wait a minute...what's today?" Got a good chuckle out of it though.

Hmmm, something about April first didn't sit right on that one. Would be cool though. Hey, chucky, you might try to get together a group of parody writers, musicians and singers together and put together an AmiRight parody album for commercial release. As the Internet's leading parody song website, i'm sure it would be popular. A record company might be persuaded to try it since it would likely contain the 10-15 best parodies out of 20,000+. We could even have some kind of elimination contest to see which parodies will be considered for recording......
Bo 'Ice' Bielefeldt - April 01, 2004 - Report this comment
Definitely a good idea, L... though the record company would hafta clear thru a lot of red tape on use of other record companies' copyrighted material. After all, 99.99% of our songs were foisted from copyrighted material.
Your Worst Nightmare - April 01, 2004 - Report this comment
Oh man, I totally fell for that one! I told my brother about it and a couple of hours later, I came back, looked at the comments, and found out it was an April Fool's joke!!! Good one, Chuck!
neminem - April 01, 2004 - Report this comment
Yeah... first of all, I came here after OverClocked Remix, where they just posted a crap remix by Nubuo Uematsu, the world-famous composer of the Chrono Foo and Final Fantasy series music, so I already knew it was April Fools. Secondly, Weird Al specifically stated that he would *never* under *any* circumstances perform a parody he didn't write himself. And thirdly, you mispelled "perform". So :P
S.T.G. - April 01, 2004 - Report this comment
Okay, that one got me......but then I thought to myself. Is Chucky bs'in us? And my forethoughts were right. Goodf job, oh if we had the best of AmIRight "Bong Song" is a definite b/c that was a life changing song for everyone, lol.
ChuckyG - April 01, 2004 - Report this comment
nice catch on the typo... suprirsed my girlfriend didn't spot it (she's good at that). I know Weird Al only records his own stuff, but I wasn't sure how many people knew that. I added the comments about Eddie Van Halen and Rick Rubin just to make sure people knew it was BS when they checked the comments. Though Weird Al did play with Dweezil Zappa on the Frank Zappa tribute, so maybe Eddie isn't too big a stretch (he did guest on Michael Jackson's Thriller album)
Mari D - April 01, 2004 - Report this comment
I know some musicians and singers who would be available for the parody album (hint, hint). Great joke, Chucky! Now there's a doll with your name after you!
Paul Robinson - April 01, 2004 - Report this comment
AW, Chucky! And here I thought Mr. Weird Al himself was gonna come over here and help celebrate my Birthday...I might possibly have totally fallen for it if I hadn't already seen the other comments. I can be had pretty easily sometimes...Last year I fell for a phony April Fool's Day Yahoo article that said Tori Amos was going to star in a remake of "Mary Poppins", it went so far as to say Sony Pictures was doing it and mentioned producers, directors, co-stars and supporting part players (or possible players). They pasted Amos's face on the figure of Ms. Poppins in the adjoining photo but the head really wasn't placed 100% square with the neck upon closer examination. Still, I got as far as trying to imagine the movie. Actually, I think it would be a total gas, but I am kind of warped in that respect.
Your Worst Nightmare - April 01, 2004 - Report this comment
Yeah, I feel kinda like Paul does, and I was really disappointed when I found out that this was a sham. Ya had me fooled, though!
Arwen - April 01, 2004 - Report this comment
I TOTALLY believed it. Didn't even cross my mind that it was a joke. I'm not usually that gullible...but...I am an optimist...and Weird Al could totally benefit from reaping from our talents...
EmiLoca - April 01, 2004 - Report this comment
...and after I read that, jumped around for a few minutes, searched throughout the recent parodies to find which song might be the lucky one, someone told me that "gullible" was written on the ceiling and a pie fell on my head.
neminem - April 01, 2004 - Report this comment
It might be written on the ceiling... but you know it's not in the dictionary, right? :-D

in a perfect world, parody would be a legitimate genre up there with rap, rock, and everything else that dominates the current music charts and there would be plenty of real musicians looking through amiright and asking to record our songs. It would be nice if that would happen but since it doesn't seem likely we should use the performing talent we have here and record 2 albums... 1 for parodies of new songs and 1 for parodies of old songs... there have been a lot more quality parodies of recent songs than the amiright charts have shown

Hey,Weird Al's going to do another parody of Don McLean's American Pie. This time,it's Madonna's version. Maybe an American adaption to Happatai's Yatta or a Metallica King Nothing parody called Toon Disney as well as a parody to Toby Keith's American Soldier where it's something about a game show called Jeopardy.
Chris Bodily TM - April 03, 2004 - Report this comment
You really got me, Chucky! I actually believed that! I was hoping to me rolling in the dough after Weird Al sang my parody, "Gilligan's Island," (to the tune of "Stairway to Heaven"). Oh, well. I guess I'll record my own parodies in addition to my serious music.
neminem - April 03, 2004 - Report this comment

Let's say Weird Al is going to do a Madonna remix of The Saga Begins,a Star Wars song that goes like "My,my,this here Anakin guy".

I wouldn't mind seeing that parody-just as long as I don't have to see Darth Mauls' buttcrack.

since the date and comments didn't appear to be enough clue for some people, and I didn't want to remove the comments thread, I changed the title to indicate this was an April Fools joke. Probably should have done it the same day to avoid futher confusion. Next time I'll know better.

Everybody's looking foward to "The Saga Continues",which is Weird Al's combination of "The Saga Begins" (where it goes like "my my this here Anakin guy") and Madonna's stupid American Pie song she stole from Don McLean. This parody is about Star Wars Episode II.

Hey, I wonder if Weird Al's considering parodying Dschinghis Khan at all, because I got plenty of Dschinghis Khan parodies that he could perform! Oh wait, Weird Al won't take suggestions from random people, except gor "Like A Surgeon", which was actually suggested to him by Madonna herself.
