Cliff Richard, "Wired for Sound"
Misheard Lyrics:
Big, fat music - they're wired for sound
...
Go sit in the park and I'm gonna use it
...
I went from the needle to the plastic
...
I said: "You love me, but love means you must like what I like"
...
She said, "I'm not a girl you can own as a standby"
Original Lyrics:
If they've music they've wired for sound
...
Cassette in my pocket and I'm gonna use it
...
Power from the needle to the plastic
...
I said you love me then love means you must like what I like
...
She said, "I'm not a girl you put on at a stand by"
What sort of awkward lyric is "If they've music they're wired for sound" (very British). My lyrics are much better - eg. why does the writer say "Power from the needle to the plastic" when the revolution is about Walkmans/Walkmen? 'My man' has come off heroin to 'get into the plastic'!
