"Margaritaville"
Misheard Lyrics: Wastin' away again in Margaritaville
Lookin' for my lost shiggerasaw. Original Lyrics: Wastin' away again in Margaritaville
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt. |
Story about this misheard lyric by: Jenni I grew up with this song, always wondering what exactly a shiggerasaw is. I assumed it was some Spanish word referring to the woman 'some folks say' is 'to blame'. I did wonder about it not *sounding* particularly Spanish. Anyway, the other day, I was driving with my 15-year-old son. 'Margaritaville' came on, and we turned it up and started singing along (loudly and off key). When we got to this line, he'd snapped the radio off and looked at me in disbelief. he asked, 'What did you say?' 'Lookin' for my lost shiggerasaw,' I replied, a little less confidently. 'Uh, Mom, it's shaker of salt.', he said, slowly. 'Oh, that makes sense.' was my reply, followed by awkward silence. |
