Song Parodies -> Joe DiRita Will
| Original Song Title: | "Margueritaville" |
| Original Performer: | Jimmy Buffet |
| Parody Song Title: | "Joe DiRita Will" |
| Parody Written by: | Rick Duncan |
Blowing up sponge cake
Steppin' on the rake
All of the gimmicks, bein' a foil
Getting' a poked eye
From that old Moe guy
Join the team, never getting' the goil
Need a replacement Stooge, that Joe DiRita will
First Curly died, that wasn't his fault
Some people say that the best went away
And we know the best we exalt
With Larry he's hangin'
The heads they are bangin'
Black n' white shows, where the comedy's low
He wasn't a Howard
But never a coward
Following Shemp and that other Joe
Need a replacement Stooge, that Joe DiRita will
First Curly died, that wasn't his fault
Some people say that the best went away
And we know the best we exalt
I watched 'em do plumbing
I knew what was coming
On my ass, I was laughing so hard
Now they'rre knocking a noggin'
Down steps they toboggan
Could that old street be Hollywood boulevard?
Watchin' away the last of what was Vaudeville
Surfin' T.V. for some comic assault
Total buffoons, they're a real life cartoon
And please don't
Keep those films in the vault
Steppin' on the rake
All of the gimmicks, bein' a foil
Getting' a poked eye
From that old Moe guy
Join the team, never getting' the goil
Need a replacement Stooge, that Joe DiRita will
First Curly died, that wasn't his fault
Some people say that the best went away
And we know the best we exalt
With Larry he's hangin'
The heads they are bangin'

Should I give this a five? Soitenly!
OHhh! A wise guy! Nyuknyuknyuk!! Hahaha....this was truly great! Wish I could give ya extra points for mentioning the most obscure Stooge...or is "that other Joe"(Besser) more obscure? I think this has to be the only parody about DeRita!! Five eye-gouges for you!
Great tribute to one of the funniest trios ever, though the two post-Curly cueballs paled in comparison.
I'll say that Shemp had his moments. I still picture his squished face in a phonebooth. After that I didn't care for either Joe. One of them was too whiney for me. Anyway, this is fine lyrical buffoonery from a fellow Stooges fan. (I love Iggy, too!) 555!
Nyuknyuknyuk!
I will SOIT'N'LY vote fives for this parody. A good friend of mine who's a community theatre actor here in Massachusetts is actually related to Moe and Curly Howard, for real:
