Why They're Nonsensical:
This song has nothing to do with grossness. Apparently, from what I've found out, Jeff Lynne thought that it sounded like the German word for "greetings" when said like that, that's why he put it in the song.

I'm sure that many people in the world are afraid of snakes. So I think the singer is implying that the person he's singing about is frightening, not good-looking!
