Song Parodies -> Juice The Knife
| Original Song Title: | "Mac The Knife" |
| Original Performer: | Bobby Darin |
| Parody Song Title: | "Juice The Knife" |
| Parody Written by: | Tommy Turtle |
Written in 1997, so it's not up to AmIRight standards. Dusted off after O.J.'s latest troubles, as nailed by John Barry's great parody. ... Also more topical now: This author's noobie-day submission (30 Jan 06), "O. J. Simpson: Your Debts Are Gonna Grow".
Oh, the shark, babe, has such teeth, yeah
And he shows them pearly white
Just a jack-knife has O. J Simpson
And he keeps it out of sight
When the shark bites with his teeth, babe
Scarlet billows start to spread
Too-small gloves, though, wears O. J. Simpson
So there's never, never a trace of red
Down in Brentwood, ooh, sunny morning, uh huh
Lie two bodies just a-oozing life
And O. J.'s fleein' in his Bronco
With a passport, cash, and a knife
On a golf course, down by Miami, don't ya know
O. J. calmly plays a round
Says he looks for the real killer
So he quickly must leave town
Did you hear about Ronald Goldman? He disappeared, yeah
After going out with Miss Nicole Brown
And O. J.'s back on the street, yeah
Turned the system upside down
Lots of men who hate their wives call
Askin' Juice if he can end their misery
Oh, the line forms on the right, yeah
Now that O. J.'s been set free!
And he shows them pearly white
Just a jack-knife has O. J Simpson
And he keeps it out of sight
When the shark bites with his teeth, babe
Scarlet billows start to spread
Too-small gloves, though, wears O. J. Simpson
So there's never, never a trace of red
Down in Brentwood, ooh, sunny morning, uh huh

i'm guilty of laughing at this one
Some of our dusty parodies are actually better than we think (see my "Attic" series). The opening lines from the OS kept in, but otherwise smart and funny like most Tommy Turtle works.
Don't start getting all self-critical on us now, TT! This is much better than you think, and of course, very timely. 555
You acquitted yourself well here.
Classy job, very funny..might have had a little more impact l3 years ago...but, with the latest OJ chapter, it blends right in..especially liked the "too small gloves" line
I sang
alvin, thanks... Agrimorfee, thanks.
Kristof, thanks... as Ag said, if done today I would not leave so much of the OS unchanged, but really appreciate the comment :)
MasonR, lol! :) thanks.... AFW and Ann Hammond, thanks.

The Brown and Goldman families might not appreciate the humor here, but the arrogance of the murderer needs to be pointed out - and this parody does that very well.
John Jenkins, thanks... I too feel for the families, but when courts fail to dish out justice, at least we comedians can dish out ridicule.... thanks for v/c.
Cutting edge comedy, even your early works, resurected from a decade ago!
He might be the first dude to get life in prison for carrying a weapon - but if OJ's locked up, then who's gonna find the "real killer"? - he MUST be getting close to solving the crime by now, TT - 555
TJC, thanks... (but the "early works" go back a few decades farther, I'm sorry to admit :-) "cutting edge" lol!
stuart mcarthur, no, OJ is now too busy trying to find the "real robber"! ... thanks for v/c.
