Australian Crawl, "Beautiful People"
Misheard Lyrics:
They said to you - Tivoli Bump
They've got a rubber competition in their duffel bag
...
Got a pocket full of hair, yeah
...
Have got some friends
Who just are in from LA-A-A
Beautiful people
They have a million words to say
...
They wanna live it
But they make love in the dark
...
Snap-frozen party pies
In the corner of the sitting room
Beautiful people
The Art Deco sonic boom
...
You know they're going out tonight
To get their bobby rocks off
Beautiful people
God - they're Wella hair-conditioned, got a cocaine car!
Original Lyrics:
I said beautiful people
They've got a Robert Palmer T-shirt in their travel bag
...
Got a price upon their head
...
Have got some friends
Who just flew in from LA-A-A
Beautiful people
They haven't really much to say
...
They won't admit it
But they make love in the dark
...
Snap frozen potted palms
In the corner of the living room
Beautiful people
The art-decor sonic boom
...
You know they're going out tonight
To get their Bombay rocks off
Beautiful people
They've got a Kerouac condition, got a cocaine cough
Not helped by the fact that lead singer James Reyne is the hardest Australian singer in the world to understand (except on 'Wuthering Heights', where he makes Kate Bush sound like James Reyne, lol!), I wonder if some of the lyrics to this song from the 'Boys Light Up' album cover are correct (eg. 'art-decor' vs my 'Art Deco', which makes much more sense), and who knows what 'Bombay Rock' is outside of Victoria? Bobby rocks (socks) works so much better here! You don't want another Melbourne band sounding like Skyhooks, lol. My lyrics are so much better - I should get a writing credit! (he says, humbly)
