The Hollies, "Gasoline Alley Bred"
Misheard Lyrics:
How many times do you think that I've cried
Knowin' every day that your poppa's gettin' vulgar
Told him 'bout your fries and he was nearly chokin'
Original Lyrics:
How many times do you think that I've cried
Knowin' every day that your heart was gettin' broken
Holdin' back your pride till you were nearly chokin'
Love 'my' lyrics. How does a British band get away with singing the word 'butt', when three years later US songs like Harry Chapin's W*O*L*D (the only song that has five distinct spellings of its title depending on the pressing company) still had to find a way to cleverly sneak it in: "There's a tire around my gut from sitting on my (drumbeat)/But it's never gonna go away"
