Cat Stevens, "Longer Boats"
Misheard Lyrics:
I don't want no blood on my lawn
Original Lyrics:
I don't want no God on my lawn
One of the few times when the real lyric is stranger than the one I heard! Another line in the same lyrics, 'Mary dropped her pants by the sand and let a parson come and take her hand' (at least I never misheard THAT) has to be the weirdest line in any 1970s popular song, although the strangely-blasphemous (for a Christian folk singer) 'I don't want no God on my lawn' runs it close.
