Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Stevie Ray Vaughan

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Stevie Ray Vaughan's, "Cold Shot"
The Misheard Lyrics:
And that's a cold champaigne
The Real Lyrics:
And that's a cold shot, baby
The Story: I had heard of champaigne enimas. I thought some past lover must have done something reeeeeally harsh to poor Stevie to receive such an analogy! I walked around for years using this phrase until my friend asked me what the hell I was talking about. He, an extreme srv fan, set me straight. - Submitted by: Eric Liming
Stevie Ray Vaughan's, "Cold Shot"
The Misheard Lyrics:
At nights I go shopping
The Real Lyrics:
That's a cold shot, babe.
The Story: My boyfriend was a huge Stevie Ray Vaughn fan. I didn't know his music. When I told him what I heard he couldn't understand how I didn't understand it. He'd mimic me and sing 'At nights I go shopping.' Then laugh hysterically and call me a dumb ass. - Submitted by: Janice Lowe
Stevie Ray Vaughan's, "Cold Shot"
The Misheard Lyrics:
Knights that go shopping.
The Real Lyrics:
That's a cold shot, Babe.
The Story: It took me a long time to learn what it really was, because I didn't know the name of the song to look it up. To this day, when I hear this song I have visions of armored Monty Python characters riding their steeds to the local mall in search of the Grail! - Submitted by: Mary DeVaughn
Stevie Ray Vaughan's, "Pride and Joy"
The Misheard Lyrics:
She's my sweet little baby,
I'm her little leather boy.
The Real Lyrics:
She's my sweet little baby,
I'm her little lover boy.
The Story: A friend of mine swears to this day that the misheard lyric above is the real lyric. He's just weird that way. - Submitted by: James
